If tomorrow Boba Fett dies, it will be one of the saddest conicidences ever.

So who's mo-capping Luke? And is that Hamill's voice? Hamill did mo-cap too?

I'm not sure if I'm supposed to be happy with Grogu going to join Luke's Jedi Academy, as we all know how that ends. I hope Grogu's back next season regardless. The Mandalorian show just won't be the same without him. And Mando himself is going to get competition in a Boba show going by that post-credits sequence.

Also, that Luke meetup is off in some ways. Mando doesn't even ask Luke his name? Luke doesn't do likewise? What happened to Moff Gideon? I would have liked to have seen his reaction to Luke honestly. Mando and Luke don't exchange holomail addresses? How does Mando expect to communicate with Grogu if he didn't even get the Jedi's name and contact info?

Yeah, so have quite a few grumbles with this episode.

    • First, the completely predictable and eye-roll inducing reveal of Luke Skywalker (that they tried to make mysterious, despite it being obvious who it was). The fanservice really is starting to get too much. Where are The Mandalorian adventures? It's really starting to become Djarin and his legacy character of the week more and more. Will not be a fan of season 3 if it continues in this direction. The CGI for Luke was decent, but his hair looked fake... unsurprisingly. It is incredibly hard to digitally create it. It's pretty bad honestly when the show makes you care about Ahsoka more than Luke.
    • The fight scenes were so generic and uninspired, only the Beskar/ Darksaber one held my interest. Some Storrmtrooper extras didn't even know when to die, which completely took me out of the moment and made me laugh.
    • Gideon just gets captured so easily, and then does nothing for the rest of the episode. You'd think he'd start to play off the characters against each other, but they all just listen and ignore. So what was the point of having him say the lines? He's treated as nothing more than an exposition dump.
    • Darktroopers were wasted yet again. You don't build them up, only to have them be easily defeated by a number of characters. Really undermines the whole threat factor of the droids.
He won't. They're not going to remove Grogu from the show permanently, and he's long gone by the time Luke starts training Ben years later. Luke doesn't even start his academy until years and years after he starts training Ben.

The post credits scene though was ripped straight from Legends, in regards to Bib Fortuna fancying himself the new crime lord after Jabba dies, but he too dies with a whimper in canon. Looking forward to where Fett goes next.

Must say I enjoyed that. I did not watch the credits though. Did Mark do the voice of Luke?

    Oh wow Wikipedia is saying
"Hamill was digitally de-aged to reprise his role as Luke Skywalker in the Season 2 finale of The Mandalorian."

It was never gonna please everyone... it's a solid call on Gideon, he didn't get much to do in the last part. Also a bit odd how Fett/Slave 1 did all the assist in getting them on the carrier only to then disappear until after the credits.

No way that was Mark Hamill. Body doesn't fit and a stunt actor was obviously used for the action and so they likely used the same actor and just cgi'd the face

The series was never hellbent on huge expositions, so only real cliffhanger that might blow me away will be, if they are near their victory over Gideon
and Chimaera goes out of hyperspace with Lars Mikkelsen's cold voice going out of intercom.

But, I don't really think that Gideon is connected to Thrawn, who I think is not part of the Empire and out of touch anymore.
Nor is Gideon even connected to Sith Eternal on Exegol.
I think that we might get a reveal that he works for some high ranked Imperial officer, that will come into play in next season.

I don't expect to see Ahsoka or Bo-Katan again, as they both have their own missions and goals.
So my prediction is that a rag tag group of Cara Dune, Boba Fett, Fennec Shand and Din inflitrate the cruiser, or as we all asume that it will all happen on the cruiser, set some trap to lure out the squads on planet surface and possibly Din do a solo covert on the cruiser to find Grogu.
And using Slave 1 of course as the ship has sensor cloaking device.

But if Bo-Katan or Ahsoka really show up because of the Dark Saber, then I think the episode will end with open ending, as that would be too much to put into one episode. I seriously don't know what to really expect and that makes me hyped up, as in comparison to Episode IX, I had no idea how they can continue from Last Jedi as the movie had quite definitive ending but here, we know that the goal is to save Grogu first and foremost but if that happens, how and if it will be succeful and who will be involved, we have no idea yet!

Very curious of the post credit scene's time line and how it apparently leads to a novel. Obviously it takes place post season finale but for all we know, it could actually be post s3

I need to thank Jon & Dave, for creating possibly my favourite Star Wars ever. As a kid who grew up not only watching both trilogies, but also reading pretty much every book from the old Expanded Universe, played all the games and later fell in love with The Clone Wars animated series, this show makes me feel like that kid again in my twenties - which i didn't think possible.

I really liked the sort of dark/light side symmetry they created with the Darth Vader hallway scene in Rogue 1 and the Luke hallway scene in this episode. Post ROTJ Luke finally gets some real love.

    Spoiler Warning ------------- !!!

Mixed emotions for this season finale - on one hand was bloody amazing to see Luke in the height of his powers, (finally we get see it) - Although it makes it harder for me to forgive the sequel trilogy character betrayal thats to come (IMO).

Dave & Jon just completely get and understand Star Wars, and i'm excited for future projects with them. I deff feel Jon and Dave have put this Skywalker in part due to fan service but more importantly putting this version of Luke in that so many fans wanted to see, - and I'm glad they did. As soon as the X-Wing appeared... all the feels.

The overall episode to me was fun, nice send off, not quite as thrilling from an action scenes perspective, but emotionally pretty heavy hitting. It's set up other shows well - Boba (loved the EU reference at the end), Mando season 3 - Bo v Mando, etc etc.
