The Mandalorian S2E8 - Chapter 16

I know there are a lot of questions about this, but I think, at least for today, folks should just enjoy the afterglow of an epic ending. I have no doubt they are gonna answer this question.

Anyway, I've watched this one a couple of times already. Loved seeing Luke and that green saber. I loved R2 showing up.

I saw someone ask if Book of Boba is gonna be a spin off? Could be. Could be it's gonna be "The Mandalorian: The Book of Boba". Who knows? We shall see.

Oh, and @DailyPlunge damn I wish I'd have bet you a few weeks ago that it would be Luke.

 

Which was a weird contrivance. Lack of training is why he almost killed Cara last season.

More ‘appropriate’ than ‘ironic’. Ben fell largely due to Luke not treating the threat serious enough. He’s potentially doing the same thing here. Makes for a pattern of reckless behavior.

 

I'm tired of the cgi faces negativity. They haven't been perfect but they aren't horrible either. Amazing technology and impressive work as they've been in small doses. They still pass and work enough.

I like Sebastian Stan a lot and yes he looks like young luke but I rather have luke appear as he did here than be recasted them look back at the sequel film trilogy, books and games to see Mark Hamill again.

He was used perfectly! Appeared at the end and had a badass Vader rogue one type scene where it's luke in his prime while also serving the story of taking Grogu to train as Din was tasked to. Luke is THE jedi and I rather Luke take Grogu for a while but before it all goes wrong than exploring the rare species home world and looking for more beings of the same race. Grogu would maybe still be taken by strangers than his own parents as maybe they died or something

 

I don't understand why LF still keeps on using CGI for their faces while deep faking is much better looking and easier to accomplish.

But I actually think they could have just used the actor himself. He kinda looks like Luke:

Pedro's acting with a puppet is... amazing. Also, I remember Mark Hamill said in a tweet he was retiring the character. I guess he just meant live action?

 

I could not stop screaming and shaking once that X-Wing flew into the hangar. I thought the cliffhanger would be Mando and the others trapped on the bridge then we'd have to wait a year but nope. Luke's "Rogue One" entrance was so damn epic!!!

 

The Skywalkers are such Drama Queen's...

 

i saw a very different ending then that, wow. that was a good episode.

 

Something that hasn't been talked much about is Ludwig's music. It's amazing and especially this episode.

Dark Troopers booting up and being released sounded like some Daft Punk or Skrilex and the score during Luke being a badass was haunting then just so cool

 

Luke: You think what? I'm gonna walk out with a laser sword and face down the whole First Order?

Rey: Actually yeah. Din Djarin and Grogu told me you could easily do that.

Luke: Sigh

 

PP is an amazing actor.

I think Mark would be crazy to hang up Luke’s voice. There are tons of Luke stories left to tell!

 

Well, I guess we didn't need a Star Wars movie this christmas after all.

 

Yeah. I don't think they will air at the same time. Time to wait now.
The real thing is we still know nothing about this project.
Could be a mini series of 3 hour episodes before airing TM S3.
Could be 2 episodes serving as a prologue and epilogue for S3.
Could be one episode of 120 minutes totally detached from TM show explaining the last years of Boba.
Could be the real Holiday Special we are looking for.


Jeez, if all the show is like the last shot I will go seriously nuts. Sorry, have to share again cause this shot it's driving me so crazy.

PD I think this shot (specially the way Boba sits) reminds me some old illustration (book, comic?) or something but I can't find it. There are old McQuarrie of the bounty hunters or inside Jabba's palace but are not the same. I guess is a classic photo of a badass sitting in his throne.

 

Maybe a surprise Disney + original movie or two parter mini series. Would be cool

LOL This is why I don't bet.

I do feel like the show pulled out all the stops this season. It's going to more difficult to have a moment like this for awhile. They could do something with Leia in the future, but it won't hit like this did. The real challenge begins. With all the new content coming... story is going to have to be king. I will say, the most powerful moment in this episode wasn't Luke (even if its the most talked about), it was Grogu seeing Din's face. That's is powerful storytelling about two characters none of us knew 2 years ago. Bravo.

 

Going to make a sandwich and then watch some reaction videos while I munch. I enjoy a lot of them and have only seen Star Wars Explained's review, which was great!

Also, when the tie fighters were being shown and taking off, there was a John Williams cue that was so wonderful to hear there!

 

Also, saying "post-credit scene" in a Star Wars anything is so weird.
