The Mandalorian Season 2 Wish List

I'd like to see it get away from cameos and familiar places and focus on doing new things.
At some point they will have to take an actual risk with the storytelling in the films or shows or Star Wars will just become stale and the fan base will lose it's broad appeals.

 

Stay the course, keep doing what you did on Season 1.

At some point, let's just recognize we have a hit show here and therefore, "more of the same" is probably your best strategy.

I don't buy that some episodes are indicative the show can't sustain itself either, while some episodes did nothing to advance the primary plot, almost all of them establish character, enhance immersion and flow into a central theme.

I'd definitely like to see the new Republic take a little more prominence, we've already seen in Episode 6 that when the Republic needs to clean up and take out the trash in the galaxy they can do so quickly and with great alacrity. But this is a personal bias, I just love seeing X-wings kick butt.

Mostly the show just needs to keep doing what it is already doing.

 

I want them to do new things too, but there are some cameos that I think make sense.

Obviously there are characters I'd like to see reappear from the first season- Gideon, Carga, Dune, possibly Fennec Shand. Maybe even another version of IG-11 (hey IG-88 had 4, after all).
Bounty hunters can pretty easily make sense in this context, so I have no beef with any of them as long as it's tasteful.
Other characters... we'll see. I think it would be silly to see something like Malakili show up, or if Chewie or R2-D2/3-P0 showed up. But if it's something like Agent Kallus, or Hondo? Maybe.

Planet-wise, I hope to see new stuff too- but I also wouldn't mind visiting planets that aren't overrepresented. No Tatooine, no Bespin, no Naboo, no Coruscant, and definitely no Endor or Hoth (why would anyone go there?). But maybe something like Malastare, Sullust, Mon Cala, or even Corellia again would be all right, as long as it's only a handful of those planets among other new ones.

Story-wise, I like the serialized format (with occasional 2-episode arcs) and the nods to western tropes. I think both can continue, but the season should probably start off with a strong opener, setting the stage for the rest of the season. I think S1 held its momentum pretty well from the boosts in episodes 1 and 2, so I hope that the S2's first episode also really brings something interesting into the mix.

And I really it isn't a baby Gamorrean, because while Mando's relationship with Baby Yoda is enjoyable, I don't want to have it become Mando Day Care.

 

As much as I loved season 1. Season 2 really needs to get the story development going. If you think about it the story really didnt go really anywhere in season 1.

After the introduction of The Mandalorian and Baby Yoda we really didnt discover much.
We found out the Mando was a founding and was saved by Mandalorians.
We ended the season with The Mandalorian off to find Baby Yoda's people. Which is really what he should have decided to do after what Episode 4.

We dont know what this ex Imperial group led by Moff Gideon is up to. Other then the fact The Client isnt the leader and we all suspected that at the start. Who is Moff Gideon? Is he the leader?
We dont know why the ex Imperial group wants Baby Yoda. We have waited for this all season long.
We dont know where Baby Yoda came from. We have waited for this all season long.
What happened to Mandalore?
Why did Mandalorians start this thing where no one ever sees them with helmets off?

Concerns me a bit that Cara didnt go with Mando. Makes me think he will have to detour and come back since she is supposed to be back in Season 2.

 

Knowing the name of Baby Yoda will break the Internet. Prediction: will know in the first episode.

 

Mostly with the TV shows I've gotten disinterested in after a few seasons, the problem is that instead of keeping with character development and character interrelationship dynamics, the writing tends to veer off into more and more outrageous plots or behavior to "keep viewer interest." Whereas if you keep the characters themselves interesting and relatable, you can put them into almost any plot situation and have success. So you have to do the plodding work of continuing to build the characters established in season 1 and maybe even have a slower character-centered episode (or two) so that the characters don't get static.

So while I expect to see Greef and Cara get into some kind of crisis, and Din and kid join them...while I expect to learn more about the Great Purge and Gideon's role in it...while I expect to see Din make a number of false starts on the find-the-kid's-people trail...while I expect Gideon to do something terrible with the Dark Saber that enrages Din...while I expect another crisis related to whatever Gideon wanted from the baby...I also expect that the characters will continue to grow and change so that the dynamic with which they face these plot variations is slightly different from season 1.

I personally don't care about cameos although I don't object to them in small doses. I think we really need Bo-Katan, even if it's only in flashback or something, because we don't have the connective tissue with the Dark Saber from Rebels to this.

I don't know if Deborah Chow will be back for season 2, but I think we all liked her style. I also became a Rick Famuyiwa fan in season 1, so here's hoping...

 

I would hope we will get to explore the Star Wars universe to it fullest, with some Mandalorian and Jedi drama mixed in. It’s a big galaxy out there.

 

Mando Day Care....hummm. There needs to be some daytime, nighttime, any time care of BabyY. Like a name for BabyY, settle into a place longer than 5 minutues of ground time. Baby is bored, needs some toys, something to play with. I know MandoDyn has a mission to reunite BabyY with his species. What happens then? Baby disappears into a Yoda Species care facility and Mando has to struggle to check out his health and wellbeing? No BabyY with the Mandalorian and I'll lose interest. So I suggest Dyn start learning some things about the Force, about Jedi in general. And he stays with baby, even if they happen to find a group of Yoda Species BabyY could be with for the training he was supposed to get as a infant. Someone, or a group of someones dropped the ball or there wouldn't a baby anything out there for the Empire to find. Especially someone so tightly tied up with it species wise, can we say the word, Jedi?


BabyY would die if Dyn tried to teach him? Too frail? Dyn doesn't even know what he is. Dyn doesn't seem to know what the Force is, so he doesn't know about Jedi. After a few times of very surprising abilities showing up, he's becoming aware BabyY has something extra. Has the Empire so cracked down on information that anything about Jedi is censored?

Clan of Two. Mando and BabyY are a unique coupling. Season 2 is going to be very interesting. Dare I say explosive. Dyn changed his life forever by questioning the very idea of having a baby as a bounty. Then going back to rescue him. I can speculate all I want, but they'll surprise us every time.

 

And my daughter says bring back Ahsoka, Sabine and Ezra of course . I wouldn't mind a Jacen Syndulla arc myself.

 

That is what the Emperor tried to do, and seems was moderately successful at, once he branded them traitors.

 

1. The identity of the Armorer revealed. (She's my favorite character)
2. A wookie character (not Chewbacca) in one of the episodes next season.
3. Just one new Toydarian (even just in the background)
4. General Madine or Mon Mothma making a brief appearance
5. A Hutt character

 

Civilization. Please Star Wars lets have some locations that arent just backwater villages.

 

If they add a wookie, it better look like bounty hunter Chewie from the Shadows of the Empire toy line

You know what's really fun? All of us coming up with possible plots. Then seeing what Dave/Jon and company come up with.

 

How about Chandrilla? Some place new.

 

I'd enjoy it. But I couldn't fit that into the song.

 

Here is a major desire of mine for Season 2 ---- THIS needs to be the theme!!!

Get a good set of headphones or speakers, and BLAST this!!!
