Hey everyone. The Matrix 4 has been confirmed and is scheduled to begin production in early 2020. Both Keanu Reeves and Carrie Ann Moss are confirmed to reprise they're roles as Neo and Trinity. Thoughts? Where do you think they will go with the story?

I would imagine as a sequel Neo lives on inside the Matrix and Trinity is probably a construct of his. Possibly its about a new 'The One' as the war with the machines was on hold, but the anomaly still exists and would appear again.

I still haven't gotten around to The Matrix 2 and 3 yet, now they're piling on a 4th? I did enjoy the first one though and I saw it in theaters twice. Well one and a half times. The first time we may or may not have been in a very altered state and had to leave about halfway through but the second time we saw the whole thing. I liked it and still enjoy watching it on TV when I surf by it but I didn't rush right out for the first sequel and then I started to hear people telling me they weren't very good (or that they flat out sucked) and I just was never really motivated to watch them. I'll probably wait and see what this one looks like and if it looks cool I guess I'll finally watch the sequels so I can catch up on the story.

I'm of opinion that The Matrix should have been a standalone movie. It really is a masterpiece and the sequels didn't do it justice in my opinion. That said I will most definitely watch the new one anyway :D

This sentiment has never made sense to me because The Matrix is pretty clearly not a standalone story. Yes, it does wrap up its specific plot, but is also full of obvious setup for a larger narrative.

So before it was the Red pill or Blue pill. In Matrix 4 they will introduce the Glucosamine pill

I have to say i'm game for Matrix 4. I wasn't surprised when I heard about it considering the Keanu revolution that is currently happening. From a story perspective I wonder where they are going to take it. Are the humans able to fully free themselves from the machines? It will be interesting to say the least.....hopefully.

Really?? That's...unexpected. I'll see it for sure, but I don't know how good of an idea it is. The ending of the trilogy was confusing enough, I can't imagine where they could possibly go with the story. Because the way I see it, both worlds (the matrix and the real world) were simulations. That's the only logical explanation for Neo's ability to control the sentinels. The worlds were simulations, the characters were simulations, nothing was real. It was all software, controlled by either machines or humans. Everything we've seen could be the work of a handful of programmers who were experimenting with AI.
I mean... If Neo had some code that allowed him to control the matrix and the sentinels (IN THE REAL WORLD, may I add)....how did that software work exactly? Where was the hardware? The one he would need to run the software AND connect to the sentinels. From what we've seen, the machines are 100% MACHINES, they're not biomechanical, they can't install software on...brains and whatnot. If they could do that, they'd use it to their advantage, they wouldn't stop at using people for energy. In other words, Neo had no way to control the sentinels. Not without being a piece of software himself.
So I guess that's what I'd like to see in the next movie. An explanation for that magical code OR a reveal that everything was software. And the second would be very disappointing for many fans.

So glad Neo is coming back, the franchise was left unfinished in 2003.

I think Neo will return (He ressurects in Matrix Revolutions, his golden sight sees his body carried away on the barge after he dies) and will battle the architect to set the rest of the people free:

Architect: You’ve played a very dangerious game.
    Oracle: Changle always is.
Architect: How long so you think this peace will last?
OrCle: As long as it can.
    Architect Snorts.
Oracle: What happens to the others?
    Archtect: What others?
Oracle: The ones who were not out?
Architect: Obviously they will be freed.
Oracle: Do I have your word on that?
Architect: What so uou think I am? Human?

I loved watching all of the Matrix films in my early teens. While a cynical part of me believes such a move may be designed to just take advantage of the success and popularity of a cult franchise without adding anything new, it is too soon.

I liked the first two Matrix movies, but I felt really disappointed with the third one. It’s like they didn’t have an ending
so they just killed off basically everyone
    .

I like the idea of a better ending
but it will be hard to overcome the fact that they already killed off all the main characters
    .

I would certainly like to know what Sati and the Oracle were talking about in the end when they said
    we will see Neo again
    .

First film is amazing and one of my favorites of all time. The sequels don't come near touching the original but I still find them to be underrated fun action/sci-fi popcorn movies.

The trilogy's ending wasn't great but conclusive for the most part and so it'll be interesting how everything is still going on and especially with Neo and Trinity

Because Neo isn't the first "one". So they may in fact see him again and his name may not even be Neo.

Would like to see how the world was rebuilt, with peace having been made between humans and machines. Would be cool to see The Matrix as this kind of augmented reality—so the virtual and the physical worlds collide in crazy, original ways. I'd love to see Trinity as the villain, coming back as a program born out of Neo's regrets and The One manifesting in John Wick's shape to try and stop her. End of pipe dream.

I was today years old when I finally realized "Neo" is an anagram of "One".

The Matrix is one of the two greatest science fiction stories ever told. Jurassic Park (the book, not the movie) is the other one. It's amazing they were only ten years apart.

The Matrix was a philosophy movie with kung fu sprinkled in.
The sequels were kung fu movies with philosophy sprinkled in. They were good movies, but the original was an amazing movie so of course the sequels fell short of expectations. Still worth watching though.
