I need a pill to make me forget this movie exists. That's how bad it was.

I liked the General, I'm happy that I watched the first trailer only once ( A great trailer doesn't usually add up to a great film. Its rare...trailers are a marketing tool to get you in those seats) and my expectations were considerably tempered, so I'm brave enough to say I enjoyed it.

Films are subjective, any part of a film can make someone dislike it, and whatever someone dislikes may not effect me the same way, anyWho there won't be another Matrix film for a very long time HAHA :D

    cheers,
    Rogue Agent

Went in hoping for the best. There were a few great moments of Matrixy goodness in there. But at the end of the day, I just didn't have fun. I was more bored during this movie than really any other movie I've watched in theaters in recent memory.

some reasons why this might be:

    1) Too much purposeless nostalgia. Morpheus and Smith had no reason to really be in this movie, especially since the original actors couldn't return. The replacement actors are both really great actors in their own right, but they just can't replace such iconic characters. Morpheus and Smith are maybe the two most impossible to replace, and they ultimately didn't really need to be in the story. Why not just have Bugs take on the Morpheus role? She's great, and I wanted more time with her.

they try to lampshade this whole thing with the super meta "video game" discussion, but at the end of the day the nostalgia still felt cheap. Compare directly to the new Spider-Man movie, which also leans hard on nostalgia but in a way that serves the story and actually adds to the old stories it's referencing.

    2) Vague plot mechanics. The previous sequels suffer from this as well. I have no idea what's possible or impossible. So the Analyst can stop time now? But somehow Smith is impervious to this? Trinity can fly now? It felt like anything could happen, so nothing had real stakes. That made the action boring.

I'm really not sure what to think about Resurrections. I agree that
replacing Laurence Fishburne and Hugo Weaving was a negative
    and furthermore
Neo and Smith have died so many times at this point that there is no sense of danger for them whatsoever. It is also odd that they can purge the Architect and the Oracle but apparently not Smith or the Merovingian.

BUT I also enjoyed how meta it is, especially since it initially made it look like it was going to make a mockery of the original trilogy, but then it actually ended up respecting it in a way that basically made sense.

    The ending was
not that climactic, but the upbeat tone still felt better to me than the original ending.

Just home from the movies, watching Matrix IV, and I’ve got to say…

…all y’all haters are utterly and completely insane! :p

The Matrix: Resurrections is a perfectly fine movie, with an interesting premise and clever subversion of the old tropes. It is definitely oceans of magnitudes better than M2 & M3, and a fine revisiting of & conclusion to the series. What’s more, the movie is relevant and poignant (as relevant and poignant as a quasi-philosophical sci-fi flick can be), and it has something to actually say! *sigh* I can’t even bother arguing

Of course, M4 isn’t flawless, and I found the meta inspections – the constant self-referencing, self-justifications, and need for self-validation – to be a bit too much and unnecessary at times. Every now and again, it felt as if the filmmakers tried too hard to convince themselves that they were allowed to walk on holy ground, that they had to prove they knew the canon and that the audience was caught up on the series, but all right, I can live with that.

I thoroughly enjoyed The Matrix: Resurrections and will happily watch it again, (and after recently re-watching M1-M3 in preparations for M4, I can convincingly state that I’ll never watch the swill that is Reloaded & Revolutions ever again). Good stuff

    Also, girl power! :p

Yep. I'm definitely and and completely a hater of MR (Matrix Regurgitations). As far as the insane part, I'll leave that to you and the derilict Merovingian. :p

    A totally unessecary film.

It's like the garbage truck that the agent took over, in the first film, in an attempt to murder Trinity, suddenly the garbage truck and Trinity had a 2021 collision with destiny. Guess some things are meant to be.

As I said, utterly and completely insane.

Girl power used in a good way, right!? Imo the movie was perfectly fine, Bugs and Trinity never struck me as bad characters, nothing that screams girl power in a bad way.

I really liked Bugs! I'm kinda disappointed we won't get more from her.

I've noticed that a lot of fans of hard sci-fi really enjoy this film. One in particular said if MR was released as a novel rather than a feature film he would have enjoyed reading the book.

It felt kind of… off. I’m invested into Matrix, but the story ending at 3 for me adding an additional story felt off more like a cash grab.

After hearing why Lana Wachowski did all this, I kinda have even more of a soft spot for M4.

After her parents died she went through a hard time, but there were Neo and Trinity who gave her strength. Resurrecting them helped her grieve her parents. Kinda beautiful if you ask me.
