    A random thought...
This might make a better on-going TV show than a movie, kinda "Quantum Leap" / "Red Balloon" style, but could be a good stand alone flick...
....A story following the Millennium Falcon through its owners and adventures spanning decades; even centuries. It could finally end with the game of sabaac where Han takes it from Lando. That ship is as much a character in the Star Wars universe as any sentient being!

You mean like a 'Herbie' for Star Wars fans? I'm not sure that'd be a wise move.

Have you read James Luceno's novel "Millenium Falcon"? It's more or less that idea. And now that is not canon anymore, they can rewrite as they wish

I could see this more of a tv show format kind of like star trek, but not with anyone we know, like taking place prior to Han or Lando owning it.

That would be neat. It could be set before the Phantom Menace or after Revenge of the Nerds Sith.

The stumbling block to live-action Star Wars seems to be budgetary restrictions, and you can bet Disney are prepared to spend less on a show than George Lucas and even he couldn't get his 'Underworld' project off the ground which is probably why he resorted to planning a new movie trilogy instead.

Personally, I feel a lower-budget Star Wars as would be required for a full series would look more like Star Trek, with fewer planets and less eye candy, and risks become overly-talky to pad out the running time. However, countering this is Farscape, which in terms of ambition is more Star Wars than Trek and might be a good production template, given that SFX costs have reduced somewhat in the intervening years to obtain the same standard of special effects, but whether they are good enough to do justice to Star Wars projects I don't know.

George Lucas always struck me as being incredibly cheap when it came to this sort of thing (Battle for Endor anyone?) . I would think we would have much more chance of a well budgeted live-action show with Disney than with old Lucasfilm.

That said - doing something smaller in scope for TV would be interesting. Keeping things to fewer re-used sets. Exploring a side of the Star Wars universe that hasn't been done before....

If you think about Rebels - most of the scenes actually take place on the Ghost. That would be an easy one for a live-action show to replicate.
