For those of you that enjoyed TFA, at which moment during the films opening act did any trepidation's you may have had disappear.

For me it was the opening crawl. I remember watching TPM and as I read the crawl, I said to myself, somethings wrong.... the language, it's wrong. So, after enduring the PT's 'trade routes are in dispute" & "returning to the Galactic Senate to vote", TFA's "Luke Skywalker has vanished!", was a return to the classic set-up of fun and adventure.

It was more gradual for me than one moment. I too was feeling very guarded, because yes, I had been burned before! But still...

First I got that giddy butterflies-in-my-stomach feeling when the opening salvo of the Star Wars theme blasted, but I scolded myself out of feeling too optimistic until something actually happened. I was kind of neutral about the opening crawl (We better get some Luke in this movie, I said to myself...).

Then, when Lors San Tekka said, "This will begin to make things right," I felt a jolt of something like hope. (Wow, these guys actually understand what I'm feeling!) But still I didn't let my guard down. Then we got stormtroopers and Poe and a kick-butt bad guy with cool Force powers and an escaping droid... I took a deep breath. Yep, it was going to be OK.

Then came our scavenger and the montage of her life of Jakku...and I realized it wasn't going to just be OK. It was going to be good! ;)

I want to say that the beginning of the crawl got me too, but if I'm being honest it was the scene where we're introduced to Rey that I realised I would truly, deeply love this film.

For me it was the scene when Poe accelerated with the tie fighter and said ,,This thing really moves!" I immediately felt the adventurous excitement which made the OT so great (among many other things ofc). And when Rey slipped down that sand hill to that piano tune (which was never before used in SW), I knew that Star Wars is in good hands again.

I really enjoyed The Force Awakens.

I went in having avoided spoilers and had no actual expectations other than some vague ideas I entertained after seeing the official teaser and trailer.

Truthfully, I was tense during my first viewing over not seeing Luke Skywalker.

I was partly relieved when Kylo Ren removed his mask: I had not wanted to hear Luke fell to the Dark Side (unless he was feigning that to secretly conquer the First Order from within, which had been a theory I concocted in my earlier spoiler-free state up to that point as well as not having seen any images of Luke in any official promotional materials).

When I finally saw Luke, I was very much relieved. He was alive, and it was inspiring just to see him again after so long.

Then it was Star Wars again for me.

And then, of course, the movie ended. :)

It all became easier/less tense with subsequent viewings, but the early stress of Luke being gone while the galaxy lapsed into chaos and destruction actually hurt for a while, because the Luke I grew up knowing would have never fled or given into fear, sadness, madness, not after having overcome Darth Vader and the Emperor and redeeming his father.

Eventually, my initial trepidations for this new trilogy transitioned to a new hope:

that Luke and Rey would be coming back to help restore the balance so violently upset by Snoke and The First Order and "begin to make things right."

I eagerly look forward to seeing how that all works out in Episodes VIII and IX.

After the whole introduction sequence of Rey I knew the movie will be good.
IMO the first act of TFA was the best part in the entire Star Wars franchise.

I agree. From the moment Poe states "We're gonna do this!", to the moment Rey and Finn fly off Jakku, was arguably the most fun I have ever had watching a Star Wars movie!

You just described my moment OP!

When I saw "Luke Skywalker has vanished" i directly entered in the movie. It was like a spell inside the words. After those 4 words i said: Uffffff
The first 45 just blew my mind

The close up of BB-8 seing the FO Atmospheric Assault Landers approach. The shot was so genuine and the exact opposite of the stiff, distant acting we had in the prequels all the time. You could really feel what the little droid was feeling. I still don't fully understand how JJ does it but from that moment on I was hooked (and I got tears in my eyes).

    Screen Shot 2015-11-06 at 11.44.28 PM.png

And then when Kylo stepped out of the command shuttle, stopped the blaster bold midair but then Poe destroyed this cool, intimidating entrance by mocking Ren's mask. Then I was like- ok, this movie is gonna be alright.

this was my moment. i stopped gouging the theatre seat arm rests with my clenched fingers and relaxed.
if Poe could mock Kylo Ren to his face, i knew everything was all right.
it satisfied me that we had a kickass character in Poe, and that Kylo Ren was not Darth Vader in this world (and probably never will be).

Strange, but the moment I knew it was going to work for me, was when I saw Rey sled down that dune

For me it was not a moment during the film, but a moment the next day.
The first time watching I was too hampered by expectations and was not "in the moment". I didn't know what to think afterwards, and I still wasn't sure the next day.
As I was getting ready to travel to the theater for my 2nd viewing, I put on the soundtrack CD and skipped right to Rey's theme. As that gorgeous music washed over me and I started feeling giddy in anticipation of getting to see the movie AGAIN.... I knew all was well!!

I honestly never had any doubts, but I never expected TFA to become what it did: my favorite Star Wars film. It was fantastic. Obviously Empire is still the best, but my personal favorite is TFA. When I heard the theme, I went insane with the rest of the theater-goers. When the Falcon was revealed as the "garbage" ship, we all went crazy then. And when
    Han died
, which I got spoiled for me the day before I saw the film, the entire theater erupted in anger, sadness, and a few expletives aimed at JJ lol. I cri everehtim ;(
I went to see TFA 6 or 7 times in the theater, and each time, my dad and I both cried.
    RIP Han Solo

I agree on the teaser. While there are plenty of examples of awesome trailer/bad movie, this teaser just felt so right. You knew they were on the right track. It felt like Star Wars again! :)

Thread title: The moment you realized the movie was going to be OK.
During watching/reading the crawl, but I was wrong.
I got disappointed subsequently. (as Kylo Ren force freezed Poe's blaster shot)

Edit: @MarkaN - trolling? I thought I was funny, sorry that I don't corresponded to your sense of humor.

For me, I got incredibly excited as soon as the main theme started, but I was also somewhat nervous. The first line of the crawl "Luke Skywalker has vanished" eased some nerves, but it wasn't until when Kylo Ren caught that blaster bolt in the air and Poe starts trolling him that I felt this rush of relief and additional excitement. And then when Rey is introduced, crawling through the Star Destroyer and sliding down that insane sand dune, with her beautiful theme playing as she drives through Jakku, I was in love with this movie.
