    Hi All,

I wanted to point put some things that people have not discussed nearly as much as I think should have so far which I am HIGHLY excited about.. Would be interested to hear you all discuss your personal favourites too.

For me one of the most under rated things is the not much mentioned nor praised RAID actors. I don't know how many of you have seen Raid I or Raid II or know much about them, but they are arguably the best martial arts movies of the last 10 years. They are NITRO. Quite frankly God-Tier. All of these videos below star the protagonist Iko Uwais and some of them star Yayan Ruhian and Cecep Arif Rahman. Here is just a small selection:

All of these guys would make incredible light sabre wielding, 'Sith' esque villains/baddies on the dark side..

..Can you think of some more underrated elements (so far) of The Force Awakens?

P.S. One more thing I will add.. (out of place here) but has anyone seen Rian Johnson's Looper? If you have I would be highly excited about him doing Episode 8 too!

    Meh...I could take 'em.

If there's one thing you need to know about karate, it's that the force beats karate, every time!

I really like this news too. Those guys as consultants in choreography could add a lot of gravitas to the fights. The new wave of Indonesian and Philippine based fighting styles (pencak silat, muay thai) action movies are shoot in a way, that you actually see and feel blows that connect with opponent.

The main issue I have with this style of action movies (and the sole reason I wouldn't like to see guys from Raid in charge of choreography) is that those are martial arts focused on hand to hand combat with weapons as a support. I would prefer to see overall choreography based around genuine fencing styles (HEMA, itto-ryu, nito-ryu, eskrima etc.) with addition of hand to hand combat, not other way around.

In spite of that I would love to see a Sith trained in exotic and brutal fighting style.

BTW I'm still waiting to see reverse grip and dual wielding (no, Anakin vs Dooku doesn't count :p ) in actual SW movie. :D

There's a thread from when The Raid trio were announced to be involved in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Underrated is a bit misleading. I think you mean 'least buzzed about' or 'news we should be talking more about'.

Great avatar btw... Sweet and sour.

Great movie, but have you seen the episodes of Breaking Bad he directed?! Those kind of trump Looper imo :p.

But yes, I am excited to see what they use the Raid actors for. They were cast for their acrobatic fighting skills, and so far I haven't really heard anything about what they may be doing in the film.

    LOL

Why have Luke run around a swamp with a weighted pack and doing acrobatics if acrobatics and physicality weren't PART (NOT ALL) of the equation.

The teaser scene with the Falcon (falcon) being chased around a wrecked Super Star Destroyer. That might be cool if the chase is the film's single IMAX scene. ;)
I think Disney & Bad Robot added the action scene to thrill fans & set up a new Disney theme park ride.
It would have a Star Tours, Space Mountain feel to it. Much like the extended pod racer scene in TPM(1999).

The X Wing Dam Buster bit with a star fighter dog fight over a lake would be cool. 2015 has the CGI & SFX for it.

For the perfect Star Wars/Batman crossover Kylo Ren tells Luke " You fight like a younger man, nothing held back. Admirable, but mistaken!"

something that's truly Star Wars-y that hasn't been touched on a lot are creatures. not like aliens, but creatures, like the rancor, varactyl, etc. i wish we knew more about the beasties in this episode! call it what you like, underrated or under-buzzed, but the only thing i can think of is the giant pig...

I very agree. On a very tangential note, I'd like to see non-human lightsaber fights at some point. Why do we need to focus on humanoids? Give me a tentacle monster with lightsabers or a bo'amar monk with a blade sticking out.

This suggestion would be to stupid to put on screen, but why do they have to dual up close? If they can fling objects with their minds, couldn't someone fight with a floating lightsaber?

I'd like to see someone wield a small saber like Yondu Udonta wields his Yaka arrow in the Guardians movie. Just fly it around using only the force striking down all that come before him/she/it..

Yeah im soooo with you on that one. He seems to be a very brave and versatile actor. He will bring lots of emotional depth and passion to this villain.

I like what i have seen from Boyega in Attack the Block too . He is very charismatic and has great presence. He has that thing where he just sucks up the camera in every scene, the camera likes him or something .And the way he swung around that sword just screamed Jedi.

I like the fact that they haven't casted your typical young Hollywood pretty boys in these roles but looked for something else.

At this point I would be more concerned that several things we're discussing may be overrated.
