Let's talk about one of the most intriguing and thought provoking movies I have seen, Arrival.

Interested in everyone's thoughts on this one.....it is quite mind-blowing. The "twist" in this one is unlike any I have ever seen in a movie, caught me completely by surprise.

It is a good concept to think about, that not every "different" being, even if it seems "frightning" at first sight, has to be an enemy automatically. :D

If you like this, check out Annihilation and Ex-Machina if you haven't already

much as i like Ex-Machina as a film, it's really a very dark film. i'd even call it flat-out nihilistic.
Arrival, on the other hand, while it has its share of tragedy, it's overall a much more optimistic vision of a future for humankind. : D

Indeed but they do share their line of forcing the viewer to think and evaluate their surroundings.
They come to vastly different conclusions on life but the journey is worth it regardless
    ;)

I found the "flashforwards" of Louise and her daughter really moving.....as far as the overall movie I'd like to get it on DVD and look for clues or easter eggs in the beginning....

I believe it is everywhere but the US and Canada.
If you're in the US or Canada...no luck.

I actually feel like Annihilation and Arrival could be sister films in the way they approach certain topics and how they handle certain key thematic structures.
    Very different outcomes though.

Arrival its not of my favorites movies of Villeneuve, but I really liked.
The 45 first minutes are amazing, the suspense is very well done. I also loved the design of the aliens and how they communicate with humans.
    Great sci-Fi.
I really enjoyed Annihilation more. It was a great surprise.
