not what i was getting at. i was thinking more along the lines of motion capture.

Its perhaps one of my sillier ideas, but we will see in time.

Of all the conspiracy theories.. dern's character might actually be the big surprise.

A lot of you will laugh at the suggestion, but how is she NOT going to be on the big screen in live action at some point?

She is already a fan favorite. for merchandising reasons alone... getting her character into the trilogy should have been a high priority.

was it not a surprise that she survived her encounter with vader in rebels?

To be serious I don't want her in the ST. It would again take away from Luke as the wise Jedi master, if Ahsoka is around. :(

If Disney or Lucasfilm would use that kind of reasoning the outcry of nerds would be felt by the Jedi far far away..

From a story perspective that would make not to much sense, you need an explanation why she left out the OT period and the 30years after that. She has no connection to any established character.

I didn't say that disney should come out and say that they are putting a character into a film for toy sales reasons.

What has she been doing for 30 years? a good question for sure, but the same dilema exists for any of the following should they survive rebels:-

Ahsoka, Ezra, Kanon, Maul, Thrawn, Inquisitors.. and more.

    Do they all die?

I was left with an 'eh?' moment when we saw Ahsoka alive. also.. she isnt a jedi, so that would kinda get past the 'Luke is the last jedi' stuff.

I find the new rumor of Dern having a fancy dress and pink hair very intriguing and provocative. While I enjoy the Rebel and Imperial uniforms I have always been a huge fan of the Episode I Naboo gowns and classical ornamentation on costumes. My gut feeling to this rumor is that (if true at all) Dern is not a Queen but a rich local authority. Making Star Wars describes her look as something more like the Hunger Games capital. I find this whole thing exciting.

I doubt we'll ever see Ahsoka in live action, if only for the fact that Orli Shoshan could barely move in her Togruta make-up.

If they utilize CGI enhancement, she can move much more comfortably.

Unkar's face was CGI you can really see how rough it can look in the deleted scene, but it wasn't too bad in the movie. Still looked CGI.

The face itself was made from some kind of jelly-like substance. However, Unkar's expressions were enhanced during post-production.

Yeah, and from that picture, you can tell why it had to be enhanced.

I enjoyed that interview. Always nice to see an actor be respectful of the trilogy, show their enjoyment and appreciation of being a part of it. I've always thought Dern to be a great actress. It will be interesting to see how she is used in VIII.

Confirms most of MSW April 9th report:

    THE RESISTANCE ADMIRAL
Laura Dern’s character may be called Admiral Holdo in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. That is the name being used by people around the production to talk about her. The strangest part is she doesn’t look anything like an admiral in the classic sense. Admiral Holdo wears a long, regal mauve gown with a short cape that hangs down in back with a concealed laser pistol. She has metallic braces around her wrists. Her pink hair is curled with a flapper vibe to it but it’s not incredibly short. She’s kind of the antithesis of Leia’s new general look of a brown dress with her old A New Hope blaster pistol. Admiral Holdo looks very much like a design from the prequel era of Star Wars.

Yes, the dress is very prequelesque, but the hair screams too much "Hunger Games" for my taste.

Does it? Yes, her hair colour is not natural but her hairstyle and this... orb? she has in her hair are elegant and tasteful. Compare it to the Pink Lady from the Hunger Games (I have no idea what her name is, never read the books/watched the films.)
Her make-up, hairstyle and costume are all ridiculous. Holdo doesn't look like that at all. Besides, pink hair are much more common than you may tthink. ;)
