    According to the Offficial Star Wars databank, "Poe Dameron is a commander in the Resistance’s Starfighter Corps and one of Leia Organa’s most-trusted operatives. The son of a rebel fighter pilot and a rebel commando, Poe grew up on stories of Alliance campaigns. A decorated X-wing pilot, he can fly anything – which is fortunate given how often his headstrong nature leads him into trouble."

    First of all, with apologies to all of the fans of Finn, Rey, Kylo Ren, etc.--but we have beat the dead horse of whether or not Finn is Force sensitive, we have discussed ad nauseum racial and gender equality in the 21st century, for over twelve months and five hundred pages we have discussed Rey's lineage, Kylo Ren's lineage and background. Yet I cannot believe that there is no official thread, for a character, who I believe, has the charisma, the depth and the potential to carry an entire plot on his own. Poe Dameron is one of General Leia Organa's most trusted spies. He knew Lor San Tekka. He was trusted with handling the map that leads to the location of the original Jedi Temple, all of its secrets and the whereabouts of Luke Skywalker. He is the Commander of Red and Blue Squadrons, and his call sign is Black Leader, as he flies a black T-70 Resistance X-Wing fighter.

    He was stubborn, funny, extremely unflappable under pressure, and the best fighter pilot since Anakin Skywalker.

    One of my favorite scenes in the movie came early on when he was apprehended by Kylo Ren on Jakku. Ren used the Force to stop his blaster bolt in mid air, and paralyze Poe's arm. When thrown at the feet of Ren, instead of showing fear, he delivered a very funny exchange about who should talk first, and when Ren responded, he mocked Ren by stating he could not understand him because of the mask Ren was wearing.

    Yes, Poe Dameron was rescued by Finn, but Finn needed Poe Dameron as well. Their comic bantering worked very well together, and I seen more chemistry between Poe and Finn, than I seen with Rey and Finn. Poe later rescues Finn, Han and Chewie on Takodana. Poe leads the Resistance attack on StarKiller Base. I don't understand why there is not an official thread for him, I searched for one, but could not find it.
    Poe was wonderfully portrayed by actor Oscar Isaac, who reportedly talked JJ Abrams into not killing off the character in The Force Awakens. I am so glad he is returning for Episode 8. I thought he really deserved his own thread, so here it is.

    I am totally sold on this character and thinks he brings in that banter that we love in star wars. He's like Han's comic relief. Long live POE!

    For me the best thing of Poe and also Finn is that in this NT we are looking and having new stories inside the SW movies.NEVER before in any movie we are having stories about pilots and stormtroopers.I like this a lot.Maybe in the future(in another trilogy) we can see stories about Tie-fighters pilots too...:).

    The poe determined to find his droid, he abandoned it later in the flick and entrusted bb8 with word of mouth and strangers???

    Cool character. Wonderful actor.

    Too bad he ended up in a mindless rushed and half a$$ed film.

    Oh wait, Poe's entire plot hole story is okay because I need to read the novelization.

    I think his X-Wing is cool as f...

    But from a military point of view makes no sense to point out for the enemy so blatantly who is your best pilot, i know the Red Baron did it, but it was on WWI on WWII with the evolution of pilots and fighters he would be blown from the sky in minutes.

    poe had many amazing moments, but his romance with finn definitely gave him some of his best scenes. it was really then that you could see his best qualities shine through. I love the way you could see them falling in love with each other, it reminded me a little bit of the tumultuous relationship between naruto uzumaki and sasuke uchiha

    and let us all hope tfa has a better ending, which includes finn and poe getting married.

    i think poe is really amazing though. if he was a musician, he would play the saxophone, because he is a smooth and enigmatic man. his friendship with bb8 reminds me of that of a humble man and his guinea pig. what;s better than this...................

    Huge fan of Poe! I think he was the most successful new character. I had to take a double take when he reappeared, but I was so glad to see he was back! I wonder what his journey was in the meantime after the crash. :rolleyes:
