I think it's odd that he struck him with the butt of his saber rather than ran him through, maybe it's because of their connection?

The hat is round like the character in Rey's TFA forceback. Could be a coincidence. As you said, the clip is just short enough to keep us from gleaning much

It would seem strange to introduce another desert planet. My guess is there's some reason to go back to Tatooine and since it's such a huge part of this saga it makes sense.

I wasn't being serious, but who knows. Maybe the KoR are the ones who turn to the light.

LOL, my bad. I think it will be an early sequence in the movie since Kylo is unmasked

He was asked, but declined because he was exhausted after the last one, which is totally believable.

I enjoyed TLJ, but the above quote makes allot a sense. If they were completely satisfied with TLJ's (financially yes) results why didn't they ask him to finish up the trilogy?

Was it because he had another film on his schedule? Or did they want JJ to come back and fix everything up? I liked the idea of killing Snoke to make Kylo Ren the main villain, but allot of fans didn't. Now JJ is bringing back Palpatine. Was it an error to kill off Snoke?

LFL and KK had some sort of plan but something went wrong along the way.

As far as RJ's trilogy, why has Iger stated that after 9 the films will take a hiatus? If the films are taking a hiatus, is Rj still working on his trilogy?

I think everything depends on the success of TROS ( I think it will but who really knows).

I think if it's successful. We'll see B&W trilogy or RJ's trilogy in 2 years or so, 2021/22.

If TROS takes a major hit. We won't see another film for maybe 4 years or so. They'll focus all their efforts on Disney+

    • November 3, 2014 - Force Awakens finishes filming.

My guess would be either Tatooine or Jedha because of the resemblance in the rocky areas. Doesn't mean it couldn't be Jakku. Another thought could be the planet where Luke's Jedi Temple had been that Kylo destroyed. I don't think we have been given the name of the planet but from the flashback images we have been given, it looks to be a dry rocky place.

Don’t know about the ship flying into the mountainous city but the next shot is certainly an A-Wing. And, given the Venator class destroyer next to it, probably a prequel-era A-Wing.

RIan Johnson was asked to direct IX and declined. This was just cited a few posts ago.
    Yes, more information here.

I feel very confident it was not Maul flying it. I think JJ wants us to think it is Kylo but I suspect it is a KoR flying it.

Not necessarily. Ewoks were on the forest moon of Endor but may not be on Endor itself.

@Rogues1138, I'm not sure what the link you posted means? The Hollywood Reporter article discusses Kennedy's plan for the next ten years and Rian Johnson's involvement.

Also, I saw a breakdown video that pointed out Kylo doesn’t have the scar, so that scene may be a flashback.

I think we will see B&W in 2022 and there will be no Rian Johnson trilogy. The tricky part is these decisions are not really up to LFL. The corporate overlords at Disney dictate release schedules and they balance the needs of multiple studio divisions when they make these timetables. Quite honestly, Star Wars will not be as high of a priority as the MCU, not to mention whatever miscellaneous Disney/Pixar animated sequel they want to churn out. Heck, they even have their hands in Avatar right now.

I think it may be to early to tell. Could be. I know we are all excited in hearing Palpatine's voice at the end of the trailer. I know I was. We also had the confirmation of him being on the set. To what extent he participates in the movie is yet to be seen. He may be brought back in physical form for a higher level villain ( I have my doubts on that but that is just me) or he could in a flashback, a sith holocron, or a hologram from an old stored transmission that adds to Kylo or Reys views. Hard to know just form a voice at the end of a teaser.

As far as I have read, his and BW's trilogies are still a go. Given we have had a movie every year since 2015, going a year or two without a movie could be considered a hiatus. RJ wanted to work on another project of his first which prolly be 2 years in the making and BW are just finishing up GoT, so their trilogy would probably be at least a couple years away also.
