EA and BioWare have released a brand-new CGI trailer for the much-anticipated expansion to The Old Republic that puts back the focus on Darth Malgus: Legacy of the Sith, which finally launches today!

These high-quality, cinematic CGI trailers have captivated Star Wars fans ever since the game was first announced. They quickly became a tradition for EA and BioWare's long-lived MMORPG, as they've convinced plenty of players to check out the game over the years. Check out this new short, titled 'Disorder' and created by ILM, below:

The Old Republic is currently celebrating its 11th year of release, and there are no signs that 2022 will be the last with new content. The game recently celebrated its 10th year in style, re-releasing the older cinematic trailers in stunning 4K. Legacy of the Sith is the 8th major expansion to The Old Republic and the latest since 2019’s Onslaught. You can jump in for free (with some limitations) here or through Steam. The Premium monthly sub, among other things, unlocks full access (forever, even if you unsub) to all expansion packs released so far, so it’s not a bad idea to pony up for at least one month of Premium if you plan to explore all the story content the game has to offer, which is a lot.

2022 is cooking up to be a massive year in Star Wars gaming: EA recently announced that Respawn is developing three new games, including the sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order that could arrive as early as this fall; LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is finally being released on April 5th; and Zynga’s Star Wars Hunters is opening its combat arenas soon as well.

The Old Republic CGI trailers have been some of the best Star Wars content of the past roughly twelve years. This was no exception. It had amazing action, an interesting location, cool characters whose stories were told in mere minutes but as engaging as season-long plots, and so much more wrapped up in about six minutes' worth of goodness. I'm not sure if this beats Mando rebuilding his ship or Luke and Ahsoka appearing but burn me it doesn't get close. This is definitely in my top 3 Star Wars things of 2022, and that's a great start to the year. Now, let's see how the expansion's story plays out.
