I have a bit of a problem with Rey cheerfully exclaiming, "I like this!" as she's firing the Falcon's guns at the end of the movie. She just learned a supposedly devastating truth about her parents, and she was wrong about Kylo, so her exuberant mood doesn't make sense. I think that's definitely a line that should have ended up on the cutting room floor.

All it did was drop the well worn “rich people are bad” trope. There were a lot of eye rolling moments packed in this one scene for me.

I didn't like DJ and his stuttering bit. It would have been cool if he was another species or alien, but I know RJ likes him and was honored to have him in the film, so I guess RJ gave him creative latitude. Which didn't work in my book.

That’s fair enough of course, but just to present the opposing view...

I can see how some might find it annoying on the surface, but I loved the stuttering, as a ‘slicer’ it was like he spoke in glitchy code( ... hack-ese? Lol) and also indicated there was not only his skill with finding a way in to slice tech/computers but also how he had an angle to double-cross or find the vulnerability in any situation... “maybe”.

I would love to see DJ turn another movie or TV show some time.

Kinda like when Luke is utterly devastated by his potential mentor and father figure's death one moment, and then moments later he's on a high, feeling very pleased with himself for shooting down Tie Fighters . And being scolded by Han for his exuberance and cockiness.

Canto Bight was meaningless for the story but not for the character of Finn, Rose and even Poe, that was the whole point of it. It wasn’t as engaging as it could have been, because it was rushed. That’s my only complaint. Maybe if the plot had centred on DJ saving the slave kids and Rose had been a bit sassier, less child like and more show not tell, the whole thing would have resonated better.

Luke throwing the saber felt odd... I know that everyone thinks that it was too much. I actually think it was too little... If Luke had turned around angrily and tossed the saber in the sea, I would have liked it more. it would have been more cuckoo, more yoda like... Rey would have had to retrieve it from the sea, and maybe repair it... it would have been fun. It was the nonchalance in Luke what seemed weird more than the action itself I think.

Totally agree about Leia. It was a cool move but it looked so bad... maybe if she had grabbed onto something it would have looked a bit more elegant.. I don’t know, not easy to resolve that one.

My major issue is the focus on running out of fuel because it smacks of explaining how things work which I do not approve of in Star Wars.

I also strongly object to the Caretaker party deleted scene not making the cut.

To be fair, they always shown that ships needed some type of fuel. X-Wings being fueled just before the death star attack and the leaking of hyper drive reactor in Episode 1. It was just never a plot point.

Yeah, implied versus specified is the hair I split because I like my Star Wars way more fantasy than science fiction.

It isn't debilitating as I'm a big fan but it does bug me from what I consider from a Star Wars universe perspective and almost certainly by happenstance it seemed to open the door for going even more for grounded matters driving the story in Solo being even more about fuel.

It doesn't actually affect anything even to me other than my own "Star Warsyiness" quotient but the question was asked. Nowhere near Midichlorians but worse than a lame Tarzan call from a Wookie for sure.
Somewhere in say the neighborhood of a "Noooooo" or cartoon bug out eyes on Jabba when Han steps on his unplanned for tail in a rehash of the previous scene.

That's a good one. It always seems strange to me scenes like this and they are very common in movies and even SW.
One example: Just after 5 minutes of Ben's death by vader in the DS Luke is cheering inside the MF when exploding some Tie fighters!

What do you mean without the leaking reactor in Episode 1 Anakin is never found.

I really liked TLJ and I can’t stand the haters going on about “milking a walrus, Holdo is bad, Leia flying is bad, Rose is bad, etc...”

But there are several things I did not like about the movie.

The most prominent of these being how the plot and characters seemed to circle around, with little getting accomplished. Finn had the same story arc as the first movie (tries to run away, goes on a mission with a friend, and attempts to make a heroic movie...) Rey, who was mind-controlling people in the first movie, made a tactical error by shipping herself to the enemy and only lived because Kylo Ren hated Snoke more than his cares for her. Her big scene was “lifting rocks” was a bit anti-climatic, especially when Luke warned her that the Force was not a power used for lifting rocks.

The second problem I had was the lack of backstory. Who are the knights of Ren? What does Kylo Ren want with his powers? Who is Rey? Who was Snoke? We shouldn’t have to wait till the last installment to find out (especially if the answer is mundane.)

Disregard all of my complaints above, for these are minor gripes. However, this last complaint is a BIG ONE:
Not once did anybody say “I have a bad feeling about this.”

BB-8 says it. It's the first line in the movie. Poe responding with "Happy beeps, buddy." is meant to explain what BB-8 is saying.

I think once TROS comes out people's judgement of TLJ will change. A good portion of fans got to see the entire OT all at once or at least relatively quickly through VHS box sets or DVDs or even through the theatrical re-releases. If you get the entire story all at once, you get that instant gratification.

There are so many unanswered questions after TLJ and I can see how someone might be disappointed by that. But, it's the second act and that's what the second act is supposed to do, change the status quo and set up act three. So, just relax and let it happen. Patience.

That being said, The Last Jedi is a flawless masterpiece 1138/10.

I didn't like the constant ship chase & that Luke didn't offer to leave Ach-Too with Rey.

Leia's entire home planet is destroyed. Not just war torn and messed up, but literally destroyed. Her friends, her mother and father....all gone. Everything gone.

And she's off flirting with a scruffy nerfherder and smiling and giggling at the medal ceremony days later!!!

Oh and then it's revealed she's actually Darth Vader's daughter?!?!

Sounds like the Princess was tired of being Princess and wanted a promotion if you ask me.

I didn't like the Maz cameo. It felt a little video-gamey... like a fetch quest.

And I kinda wish the Master Codebreaker actually would have been the one to help Finn and Rose...

    Rather than DJ.

    Just my opinion!

Have to agree with this. Really the use of Maz was only thing that I was meh about. Really felt she was only in it because she was in TFA and would be a part of TROS.

Things I didn't like in movie:

    Porgs
    Fathiers
    Admiral Holdo
    The Maz Canada cameo.
The lack of Poe, Finn, and Rey together.
Rose stopping Finn from sacrificing himself.
