From Maz Kanata's palace to many of the creatures throughout Rogue One, I think they're going way overboard with these new aliens.

For a long time, species such as Wookiees, Twiileks and Rodians (hell, even Gungans) were staples of the universe, and we see none of them in these new movies. It's just the new ones, and these new aliens are very generic looking too. For example, a bunch of the aliens from Maz Kanata's palace just look like various versions of orcs..

There's simply too many new aliens now.. it's getting ridiculous. Maybe Disney are desperate to make this the biggest fictional universe in history.. but this is too much too soon. It's also a massive shame that Lucas wasn't involved with the way these aliens looked.. and that they're treating him like he's dead :(

Thoughts? I do think they need to bring Lucas in soon, and basically hit the brakes when it comes to new creatures.. or they'll risk changing the feel of the universe. It's lame that some of these creatures may never be seen again, makes the various cultures of Star Wars feel less special.

    First!

There should be a rule. 4 every nu alien created 2 older aliens must be in same film.

Excellent post my friend. I have said the very same thing here many times before to the outrage of many. When we look back at both the OT and the PT, we see that Lucas created a wonderful universe filled with living creatures and alien species. While some aliens were unique to a certain movie and were never seen again, others were a mainstay that showed us that the SW galaxy was not composed solely of humans. Niktos, Twi'Leks, Rodians, Bith, Ithorians and many others were species that made up the SW galaxy and were an important part of said universe but ever since Disney got it's hand on SW, all they seen to be doing is getting rid of everything Lucas just to give us their version of a SW galaxy.

I was really bummed with this in TFA but I tried to digest it thinking that I should give Disney a chance because maybe they were trying to create a cool new galaxy in the same way Lucas had done before. Enter Rogue One and I was bummed and proven wrong as this movie not only lacked the familiar aliens from both the OT and the PT but it didn't include even a single alien seen in TFA either! Sure they threw Ponda Baba and a Twi'Lek hologram just to shut us up but Disney doesn't seem to get that those aliens are important parts of the SW galaxy and not just nods for the fans. RO was a prequel in the OT timeline for crying out loud and they didn't include even a few Rodians or Niktos in the crowd of Jedah to make us feel at home. The new SW movies feel like it's all about the humans with just one or two aliens thrown in. If every new movie that comes out is just going to be a chance for whoever is making it to throw away all that came before just to say ''Hey guys look at the new stuff that I invented!'' then I sadly see a dark future for SW.

I really REALLY miss the universe that Lucas created and for the first time in my life ever since I was a kid and I saw my first SW movie, I am not pumped for SW as I was before and though I really liked RO, I still have to admit that it doesn't make me feel like Lucas did when he made a new SW movie. I also yearn for the days I was crazy to go pick up that awesome alien figure or that cool beast that was going to come out in the figure collection as Disney also ruined this too. TFA didn't give us any Rathar, Luggabeast or Happabore toys to go with our figures and I greatly doubt that they will give us a figure of the cool tentacled alien from RO. For me it really sucks to be a SW collector and little by little I'm starting to loose my faith in the movies. They don't feel like those made by George, they feel like good sci fi movies with a few SW elements in them.

How I would love that Episode 8 would blow us away and make us feel like Lucas did but I sadly doubt it.

It was brief but there was a Red Lethan Twi'lek ( perhaps a prostitute ) talking to an Imperial officer on the Ring Of Kaferne.

Yeah, but don't create a race just 2 "create a race". For instance say if some director/writer wants a "blue skin" alien. Instead of creating yet another new alien he/she can use a Chiss or Duros or Lestat or Twi'lek or Pantoran or that new alien race from the book Catalyst. I think there called the Valt.

Last two films (TFA and Rogue One) sorely lacked the diversity and richness of alien-life. Enough with the humans and give us more aliens. I mean how SMALL is the GFFA if we get more humans than aliens?! The GFFA should be teeming with alien lifeforms, sentient and otherwise. A part of Star Wars' appeal is the abundance and variety of aliens. Back in 1977, the cantina scene had a lot of moviegoers talking. I want more aliens, I'm not talking more Twi'leks or Mon Calamari, but NEW aliens.

In Legends something like 75% of the male populations of the Duros, Rodians & Gamoreans (pig guard race) left there planets 4 jobs, adventure or necessity. So we should c alot of them.

I agree with what You said. It's really annoying to see so little aliens IN SUCH A HUGE galaxy. I still think they should've gave us a Twil'lek rebel RO...it was a huge opportunity. I'm not surprised they are pushing away the aliens from the PT because Lucasfilm, at least right now, behave like some wacko OT purists. Hopefully they do something about it in The Last Jedi.

Even though I love the PT just as much as I love the OT, it really wouldn't bother me much if indeed Disney acted as a OT purist. If this were the case then we would be seeing plenty of Rodians, Bith, Twi'Leks, Ithorians, Trandoshans ect that we all love from the OT but what Disney seems to be doing is trying to eradicate almost every alien that George Lucas created just to give us their take which sadly pales in comparison to those made by Lucas.

To make it super clear, Disney seems to want to get rid of almost all aliens and creatures created by George Lucas.

All the new aliens look like they were designed by one person (I don't know if they were but that's how they look to me) and there seems to be a desperate attempt to prove how much can be done with practical effects. It's funny, though, how many new aliens are being foisted on the audience and yet the same kind of diversity is not being applied to the space ships in the films.

Come on, you've gotta love a fish wearing white slacks and the same white shoes that Chevy Chase wore in Caddyshack.....

I thought the U-Wing was the best new ship design since the original X/Y/Ties
