    • Will Episode IX be the longest Star Wars movie ever?
    • Will Snoke appear in Jon Favreau’s post-ROTJ live action series?
    • Will The Clone Wars new episodes be the BEST of the series?
    • Will Episode IX be the last time J.J. Abrams is involved in a Star Wars production?
    • Will Kevin Kiner take over as the main composer for future Star Wars movies?
    • Will Maul’s story at the end of Solo be continued in a future Star Wars live action series instead of in a movie?

This week's DISCUSSION has us taking a listener question about Star Wars movie viewing order options! We know of the machete order, we know of the Pablo Hidalgo preached (and often prescribed to) order of release method, and then of course there is the timeline method Episode I through VIII. We talk about all options and each pick our own!

This week in RESISTANCE TRANSMISSIONS we asked you: Since Billy Dee Williams is all but confirmed to return in Episode IX, what do you think Lando's first line will be? Listen to the show to find out if your answer was chosen!

Loved the episode (despite the lovely Lacey's absence)!

A few years ago, I favored the idea of watching the saga films in this order: IV, V, I (optional), II, III, VI, and then of course VII and on. I even recommended this to a family who had never watched "Star Wars" before and they said they did like it that way, and understood why I recommended it. As was said, it does preserve the reveal of Vader being Luke's father, and heightens the drama of his redemption in Return of the Jedi.

That said, after listening to your podcast, I did think of another way to "marathon-watch" all of the films (over the course of a few days for my busy family), providing you've seen all of them before:

I think watching them simply in a linear fashion (according to the timeline of each story) would work really well, and I might try this when "Solo" is released for home viewing! So, it would be as follows:

    The Phantom Menace
    Attack of the Clones
    Revenge of the Sith
    Rogue One
    A New Hope
    The Empire Strikes Back
    Return of the Jedi
    The Force Awakens
    The Last Jedi
    Episode IX

With regard to the argument that seeing Solo before A New Hope sets up Han as the main hero (for virgin SW viewers), I completely disagree. Look, if you, as a virgin viewer, already understand that all of the Star Wars movies are part of a 10-chapter (almost 11-chapter) saga, then you are going to not be surprised by story "tangents" that certain films make, such as telling the story of a young Han Solo, or how the Death Star was developed, for example. And if you, the SW movie veteran, explain to the virgin viewer that ALL of the movies tell stories that pay off later, then they can better appreciate the "re-introduction" (now) of Han Solo in A New Hope, and even Lando in Empire, or how the Rebels came to have knowledge of the Death Star's weakness (and even how that weakness came to be), not to mention the sacrifices that had been made to get the plans, etc.

And (so far), as the 10-chapter story stands now, you should be able to go ahead and "insert" future anthology films into the timeline. So, for example, if they make an Obi Wan sequel/prequel (set between Episodes III and IV), you could simply place it between ROTS and Solo, or after Solo (depending on the story of a Kenobi movie). But I think you'll always have to place Rogue One right before A New Hope.

Anyway, that's my 2 cents and some lint! Thanks for a great show! I've been listening for about a year now. This is my first time commenting.
