    Well in the light of other sources and theories, I think we have a big chance to see Old Boba Fett in flesh in The Force Awakens.

    Bear with me.

    Backstory:
    Boba is the only connection posible to Luke's original lightsaber:
    He was on the cloud city at the moment of Luke/vader first combat.
    Historically , he olds a grudge against Jedis ( and possibly any one with a light saber?)
    It is no mystery that he, as a bounty hunter became very good at chasing Jedis,so he must be COLLECTING Jedis weapons as well ? a hobby of some sort certainly ;)

    What we know from the production
    Max Von Sydow is playing a mysterious character code named "the Vicar" or also LOR SAN TEKKA and is described like this: ..
    Lor San Tekka is a supporting character in the upcoming film Star Wars: The Force Awakens. He is the elder of one of the villages on Jakku. Lor has important information about the whereabouts ofLuke Skywalker, and Poe Dameron travels to Jakku to learn what he knows. He will be portrayed by Max von Sydow.

    now... here's the thing ... if you do an anagram of that name you get .. ( drumroll)

    LOR SAN T(E) KKA = NOT SARLAKK

    boom.

    now I'll let you fill up the rest ;)

    JJ Abrams behing a big fan of the SW trilogy I am pretty sure he wanted to give one of the more beloved characters of the series, BobaFett a new chance to shine one last time... I'm pretty sure he is the one who faces Kylo Ren and covers for Rey and Finn ( and eventually meet his doom like his father )
    A warrior Death for Boba fett, not a stupid falling burp.

    In the Aftermath novel, the Jawas find Mandalorian armor that seems to be that of Boba. How could they have found it if he didn't escape the Snorlakk who from the great wisdom of C3P0 we know it takes thousands of years for a Snorlakk to digest its food. Although they don't outright say that its Boba's armor.....the rest of the interludes seem to point to a character from the original trilogy and he is the most likely candidate as previous owner of the armor!

    Here's my take. the books are cannon. But not cannon to the films. We would know every story before it's told. Not one novel written ever fell into the movies.

    Well, Sarlacc is written with "c"s rather than "k"s, and even if you allow for that you're left with an extra "e". That said, this is a very interesting find! The "Lor San Tekka" name sounds weird, and it would make good sense if it was an anagram. If you're right in this, then you deserve a medal, @Snailmaster! :D

    (Also, someone looking totally like Boba Fett is definitelly in the "Knights of Ren in the rain" scene of the trailer!)

    The all have more polished looking helmets with more grotesque face guards. The "Boba Ren" may even have a robotic right arm.

    One of the padawans in the attack is a little girl, Boba for the first time in life show emotion, empathy and decides the girl won't die that day, that girl is Rey, she is the daughter of Han and Leia and is presumed dead.

    Boba "raises" her as his own, or at least take care of her until she in old enough to be on her own.
