    And:
Why The Last Jedi isn't a true SW movie.
Rian Johnson doesn't get Star Wars.
    Etc.

You know, for everybody's kvetching about TFA, the audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes is still sitting at 89%. So either people have an insane standard of excellence... or people actually like it. Nothing stopping them from giving it a bad vote. Unless they already have, in which case they are far fewer than they claim. ;)

    It's the hipster effect.

The more popular something becomes, the quicker people have to tear it down to be different and edgy.
Sure some genuinely didn't like it.
But many started not liking it because it was so cool to like it.

There is a small vocal minority who absolutely despises TFA. Sure, they'll do a top comment under some youtube vid which attracks those similarly attuned to give a like.................but we'll never see the dislikes. Also their comments will also attract a lot of attention. Not so much because many people agree with them, but because they disagree and feel the need to respond. I also noticed that many of the TFA haters are actually quite young: 12 -16 , which is quite hilarious when you think about it.

They are kids raised on the PT and with how it wasn't received well by many they view it as a personal slight on them and their beliefs that people like TFA more than the PT.

Just watch what happens if your criticize the PT on here and then compare it with who truly hated TFA.

I was born in the 90s. I have spent far more of my life in a world where the Prequels existed than I did in a world without them. I liked them as a kid because they were Star Wars- I didn't get it yet, but I really enjoyed stuff that came out of it- mostly the video games and such. So I'm not sure it's fans who came of age during the Prequels period being upset that they are being brushed aside or something.

Personally, I think it's got more to do with certain people who consider themselves hip or cultured hearing certain people they hold up as icons of culture poo-poo the movie (rhymes with "Lax Mandis"...) and hop on the bandwagon to make themselves feel relevant or "in the right."

I'm from '87. I grew up with the originals and was actually quite bummed by the Phantom Menace but still liked it. I never really liked II and III when compared to the other Star Wars movies, but still I very much liked and enjoyed them because its Star Wars. The people who get irritated by the negative reception of the prequels are often also people who got completely involved with its extended universe, especially the Clone Wars cartoon. They don't see The Clone Wars cartoons and the prequels as two completely separate things.

I'm a hybrid, in the sense that I was an adult when TPM came out. I liked it okay, but was disappointed, and strongly disliked II and III. But when I finally saw TCW, I made peace with the PT: I loved TCW, which wouldn't have existed without II and III. All the stuff I didn't like about the PT was handled much better, imo, in the TCW: the Aname romance, filling in the motivations of the Separatist movement, the Jedi, and so on. And Ahsoka is my favorite Star Wars character that didn't come from the OT. And so I softened on the PT. I don't re-watch II and III, and only watch TPM occasionally, but I'm so glad they exist.

Amusingly, after realizing how much I actually disliked the Prequels, TCW helped me come to terms with them too. I never really got involved in much of the Legends Prequel stuff. So I never got attached to those novels and stuff like others did. But I did appreciate the team bringing some of my favorite bits of the EU into the show and thus canon like the Nightsisters and Black Sun.

I too have made my peace with the PT but thanks to TCW, it gave me an appreciation of the main characters and everything else a good deal leading into RotS. RotS is the only Prequel that I enjoyed the most more than the other two, which are just as flawed like the rest of the SW films in general. But who cares. SW is awesome! regardless of how flawed/flawless they are in some capacity.

I had a hoot watching TCW. I have some favorite episodes but I need to go back and watch them again - from season I through VI. I was surprised how quickly the show grew on me. <3 The concept ideas kept me interested and engaged with what was going on throughout most of the episodes of each season. Not to mention the characters too. I really liked Savage Oppress. The nightsisters. Satine, the duchess of Mandalore and even Obi-wan had some cool moments too - especially that rad moment where he was disguised as a Mandalorian. oh man. Ashoka Tano <3 Mandalorians! and don't forget the droids! BNI-393....she's so cute. Bunny is her nickname. I had more of a hoot watching Point of no Return. lols <3

If you are going to rewatch them all (as I have plans to do some day as well) I'd suggest watching them in storyline chronological order instead of season and episode. The timeline jumped around a bit and I expect that there are a few "a-ha" moments by watching in the storyline order.

I remembered Asajj from the microseries, so I was happy to see her back, and I really loved what they did with her character. I was a tad disappointed that they ditched her ship tease with Obi-wan for Quinlan. Mind you, I love Quinlan and Obi-wan had Satine... actually, you know what, that's enough heartbreak to last Obi-wan a lifetime. Never mind.

TCW saved Anakin and Darth Vader for me. After ROTS, I could not reconcile that Darth Vader from the OT was once Anakin. Not a huge Hayden fan, but he would have been so much better if Lucas portrayed Anakin more like TCW Anakin. Personally, I like TCW better than the Prequels. The Clones (Rex, 5's etc) were more interesting, Ashoka, the bounty hunters. All more interesting.

You know, the more I watch my favorite episodes of TCW, the more I prefer it over the PT. like you said about Lucas portraying Anakin more like TCW Anakin, Hayden would have been more than pretty good in RotS. I am watching Point of No Return <3 Its one of my fave episodes featuring R2 and D-squad and Bunny!!
