The Rise Of Skywalker D23 Prediction Poll

The past D23 Star Wars events have been a Behind the Scenes reel and an exclusive poster for the D23 event. Per precedent (excluding Solo), The official Poster and Trailer won't drop until October. I don't think we will learn anything new as for the new characters other than what we learned about in them SW Celebration. As for the cast members that will be at this event at least one or two of the Main 3 (Rey, Poe, Finn), maybe Adam Driver (but that guy is busy), Domhnall Gleeson, Richard Grant, Keri Russell, Naomi Ackie. Billy Dee Willams, Anthony Daniels, and Joonas Suotamo. Since this panel shares time with Marvel, Fox and the Disney proper Live action films, I don't expect a lot coming from this panel tomorrow. I have a feeling more time will be spent on The Mandalorian on Friday's panel in regards to Star Wars information.

 

BTS reel SEEMS like a given but I think there's an outside chance it won't get released to the public in order to keep the full attention (at least footage/video wise) on The Mandalorian.

I think a teaser poster is also likely. For whatever reason we didn't get one at Celebration, maybe to avoid it leaking and I think it would be quite odd if we didn't get one between now and the official one that gets released with the trailer.

 

Ahh, I really don't love that that's an extremely possible scenario.

I'm crazy excited for The Mandalorian, but come on... there's definitely one even bigger thing Star Wars fans are excited for this year, even if that thing probably doesn't need much marketing at all...

 

That would totally piss me off, especially since I went to Celebration. Honestly the only place (if any) exclusive footage should be shown is Celebration.

 

Please release a super cool teaser poster like TLJ!!!

 

My vote is a BTS video.

 

But, but, but I thought all the insiders had said “no footage just BTS!!”

Oh wait, that was everyone else.

Seriously, even my eternally optimistic self ain’t believing we actually get a new teaser or full trailer. Especially one publicly released.

If we’re “lucky” we get a pretty worthless BTS with everyone talking about how great the movie is and how much they loved making, (because we won’t get plenty of that in November and December when they do the publicity tour) All interspersed with out of context snippets of unimportant moments from the film in slow motion or of cameramen shooting boring action and half finished creature shop heads. None it having special effects or music from the film.


Obviously I want them to shake things up. All of those previous BTS are, both when they debuted and knowing the film afterwards, hold any value or unique character. It’s not content, it’s a big glass of water instead of the appetizer we should get before the soup in October and steak in December. They’ve turned the marketing into a hotdog eating contest.

Okay, I’m done. I want to be wrong and I want to be excited. I just have to much experience with ŚW under Disney (& JJ) to be at all juiced anymore before Columbus Day.

 

I don’t like being so jaded. That announcement trailer in November 2014 was amazing (especially the Falcon ending). The “Chewie, we're home” ending of the second teaser (and in the trailer) is one of several unbelievable SW moments Disney has given us. The Darth Vader slaughterhouse scene in Rogue One was better than all the fun I ever had with my action figures. The check in from Gold and Red Leader in RO got cheers even in the February screening I went to (six old Asian ladies knew SW well enough to freak out about that moment, which made it even more fun).

And it’s not just nostalgia. BB-8 giving the butane thumbs up is why we go to the movies. Harrison Ford gives his best performance since The Fugitive, and his funniest since Indiana Jones 3. That character works even if you are new to the GFFA. Boyega is clearly an exceptional talent, balancing a haunted, frightened exterior that belies his quixotic core.

Oscar Isaac always bets $100 than he has in his wallet in every scene, but it never matters, because he wins every hand.

Driver takes a whiny, boring, Emo one note character on the page and makes him a compelling, sympathetic, hilarious, sad, and scary villain. Gleason is a great slimy fascist (in both films)

Serkis makes you so excited to see his character, then carries a lame Golllum rip off in TFA (thanks JJ! New ideas are for suckers).

JJ does give us a literal cliffhanger (cool and funny), and the visual language of TFA, especially Rey. He also gave us the first compelling star fighter scene since ANH.

Hamill does more with that 45 seconds than Hayden did in 2 movies.

I love SW. I love movie trailers. I love that people dress up, write fan fiction, and go through Anthony Daniels’ garbage looking for notes on the script, even though I totally don’t do any of those. I swear

I just want them to not be afraid to get people excited using footage instead of junk like their BTS reels and long waits for teaser.

The 25th Bond movie put out an AMAZING teaser/BTS reel yesterday. It revealed everything you need to know and be excited for months, but spoiled nothing. It showed the director and cast but didn’t traffic in vanity. Same with The Mandalorian. That’s TV, so trailer rules are different. And theirBTS reel was way more informative.

I just hate howDisney and LFL have handled marketing and things like Snokes backstory, Luke’s non appearance in TFA, RJ’s hard turn into snuff film parody, etc.

TROS will probably have great moments, but I for one am done with SW after this. Too frustrating. I’ll catch Mandalorian on Blu-ray. Not playing the teaser or season ending cliffhanger anymore with Disney SW. I want enjoyment, and too much of the time it’s just lame backpedaling and retcons

 

I love the teaser we already got for TRoS from Celebration. I saw a lot to look forward to.

The BTS for TFA was awesome and got me more excited for Star Wars than the trailers did. I watched it again the other day in anticipation of a new one for TRoS and I still love it.

The Mandalorian looks better than what I thought a TV show could be.

The Clone Wars returns in February right after TRoS, so something else to look forward to.

I think it’s a great time to be a Star Wars fan and the future is only getting brighter with Cassian Andor and Obi-Wan both having series and plans for new movies.

Can’t wait for this BTS!
