The Secret Sauce..your favourite Star Wars Themes

One of my personal favorites is in Return of the Jedi, when Lando and Ackbar prepare to enter Hyperspace on the way to the Death Star II. It pumps me up so much.

Tie Fighter Attack also. As soon as I hear it, I have to sing along like Peter does in Blue Harvest.

Finally, in Revenge of the Sith, when Grievous approaches and lands on Utapau. Every time the General walks into a room, he emits badassery.

 

My personal favorites are: Rey's Theme / The Scavenger,
Binary sunset,
Imperial March,
The Kylo Ren snippets in the opening theme of TFA / kylo arrives at the battle.
Anakin vs Obi-Wan.
The Empire theme in Rogue One has really grown on me since the release. I think it is called "Imperial Suite" or something like that.

 

The first time I heard Rey's theme I couldn't stop smiling. I always felt it had a Christmas-y feel to it, so it evokes a lot of good memories. That might be my favorite overall piece.

Han Solo and The Princess
The Jedi Steps
The Throne Room
That little Kylo signature BUM BUM BUM BUM... BUM (horrible I know) but I love it.
The City in the Clouds
Anakin vs. Obi-Wan

 

Haha, first I love when Peter hums that. Family Guy can be a little too silly sometimes, but they nailed it with that joke- everybody does it at least once!

Also, never thought I'd find someone who liked that Grievous song as much as I do.

Mine would probably be-

Original Trilogy- The Asteroid Field (or Rebel Blockade Runner, or the song that plays when Luke goes ham on Vader on the DSII)
PT- The Droid Invasion (or Across the Stars, or that Grievous song)
ST- Kylo Ren Arrives at the Battle
Spinoffs- Your Father Would Be Proud (Also, quickly becoming my all time favorite, actually)

 

I love the aforementioned Grievous track, too.

Some other honorable mentions...Not themes as much as motifs:

1. The Kamino motif. Plays at 0:20 here, and a couple other points in the movie:

2. Pretty much all the dramatic choir music from Revenge of the Sith. Whether it's Anakin's Betrayal (Order 66), Anakin's Dark Deeds (Anakin Killing Separatists), Battle of the Heroes, or Grievous Speaks to Lord Sidious, it's all undeniably awesome.

3. The Jedi Steps. Seriously. Beginning at 0:48. It just rocks.

Awesome thread! Great themes.....I must add my most favorite fanfare in all the movies. (..and there are a lot of great fanfares).....

Krennic's arrival on Scarif......at the 20 second mark and then the brass kicks in at 28 seconds. Just incredibly powerful!!! THAT is how you ARRIVE!!!!

 

I will never, ever, discredit the amazing work that Williams did for Star Wars. That IS Star Wars. Every soundtrack, irrespective of the movie, is full of stunning themes and motifs, but I'd like to just use this thread as Lock_S_Foils did above, to offer some praise to those who followed in his astounding footsteps. Because I think Joel McNeely's 'Beggar's Canyon Chase' and 'Xisor's Theme' (and by extension, 'Night Skies'; featuring a beautiful tapestry of Xisor's Theme, the Imperial March and Obi Wan's The Force theme in one gorgeous interwoven piece of brooding emotional bombast - What's not to love?) from Shadows of the Empire, along with and especially Michael Giacchino's 'Your Father Would Be Proud' (which I think is one of the finest pieces ever composed in all of Star Wars) are all examples of exemplary composition that belong in the pantheon of the finest Star Wars music that truly elevate the majesty of the franchise.

They may not be Williams but they're part of why I absolutely love Star Wars.

In what universe is techno music the only alternative to John Williams?
Everyone loves him, but you could show your appreciation without disregarding the work of everyone else involved.

Across the Stars is one of my favourite pieces of music period. Jyn Erso & Hope Suite is ace, as is Yoda & the Younglings, Victory Celebration, Leia's Theme, Rey's Theme, Binary Sunset...

John Williams is awesome! He is Star Wars! He brings it to life! I have to admit though, his scores in the ST have not been great. OT scores were amazing, PT scores even better.........ST scores meh.

 

The love theme from ESB, each and every different arrangement, forever and ever.

@Gechoman44 Awesome list....concur with all !!! Duel of the Fates is amazing.....listen to this rendition by the Danish National Orchestra in June 2017. It starts at 16:39....The performance was orchestrated by The Danish National Symphony Orchestra with help from the 'Camerata' and 'Hymnia' choirs.
