In the opening sequence where the Stormtroopers are ordered to round up the villagers and a short resistance from the villagers happen. During the fight Finn’s stormtrooper friend is killed in the assault by none other than his future buddy Poe. It is then you see is a Stormtrooper trying to help another trooper and he leaves a bloody handprint on his helmet. That trooper is none other than FINN.

    My question is:

Did Finn say that is enough when this moment happened?
How close was FINN to this Storktrooper?
Does FINN even know that POE killed his assumed Trooper buddy?

Has any of this been revealed in any novels? I haven't read all of them.

If not, it makes you wonder if this will ever be explained or if Poe will tell Finn the truth.

the backstory about this trooper is revealed in Journey to the Force Awakens.

his name is Slip and he's a "bad" soldier. Finn doesn't necessarily have an affinity for him, but he's protected him through the program anyway.

i doubt Poe knows who he hit (or Finn knows Poe hit him). it's doubtful they'll ever make this connection (or that it would even matter). it always struck me, watching the film that this was the case (Poe killing Slip), but again, i think it's just one of those kismet-y moment that stands on its own.
