Nicely put. It's great when I try and communicate and someone tells me what I'm thinking and does a better job haha.

Here's more evidence that Snoke may still be alive:

The visual dictionary clearly points out that he projects images of himself, even to the few that he allows to see him "in person."

If Snoke's not dead, then Kylo can't be the tyrant and that leaves us back at a second act narrative motivation instead of a third act motivation.
Kylo is now set to BE the threat that everyone has been fearing and whispering about the whole saga.

If you bring Snoke back, without a LOT of narrative twisting and turning, then Kylo simply doesn't matter.
He either plays second fiddle to Snoke, or second fiddle to Rey.

Snoke can go on to live a long and rich narrative life in other stories, but coming back in IX would serve poorly for Kylo and the momentum that the ST is built around - a showdown between Rey and Kylo as the showdown between Light and Dark, Good and Evil.

    Cheers,
    Jayson

When was it confirmed that this entire thing is about turning Kylo into THE threat? I keep seeing and hearing this repeated as fact, but to me it seems more like fan theory that's morphed into something factually stated.

I personally believe that the final showdown will be Kylo and Rey (and friends?) versus something much greater than we've ever seen.

    Whoa there tiger.
I'm not looking to argue with anyone about who's right or wrong, or justified or not.

I'm not the villain you're looking for. ;)

I'm only speaking from a narrative arc angle.
If he's not going to take the helm in IX as the main threatening force of action, then, personally, I will think very poorly of the film's writing, and from what I've seen of Abrams' work, I don't tend to think he'll back away from pushing Kylo in that direction. That's my opinion; not a fact.

I'm not out to prove you wrong or right.

What I wrote was that if Snoke comes back then Kylo ends up playing second fiddle to either Snoke or Rey; there's no room for him to shine bright on either side in IX given that he's been slowly building more ownership and independence over the past two films, culminating in killing his master and taking over in TLJ.

The only other option is for Rey to play second fiddle to Kylo.

I don't see this being how Abrams will likely go; I don't think he's going to be suddenly more interested in Snoke than exploring the story of the tension between Kylo and Rey at their zenith of power, which naturally leans more towards a story where Kylo and Rey are on their own facing each other.

    Cheers,
    Jayson
