By the way, I thought that Luke didn't wear this in the film:

Which is his basic Ahch-To outfit, but without the brown leather jacket thing between the tunic and the poncho. But I think I was wrong, because it looks like that's what he wears during his fight with Rey and when he reaches out to Leia at night. I might be wrong, though.

If I'm right, here's the complete list of Luke's outfits:
    - White robe without the glove (the beginning).
    - White robe with the glove (Yoda scene and Luke's death).
    - Brown costume with the leather jacket (majority of time)
    - Brown costume with the leather jacket + poncho (fishing scene? + majority of promo shots)
    - Brown costume without the leather jacket + poncho (fight with Rey)
    - Flashback outfit.
    - Crait outfit.

There are certainly deleted scenes (we know one of them is a major Ahch-To sequence) so we'll see what he wears there. :)

It's a shame they are discontinuing the 3rd wave because those are usually the most interesting figures (Held back for spoiler reasons as Unmasked TFA Kylo Ren was a tough find in 2015). I read an article about theories on why TLJ toys underperformed and one take is that many of the figures are so similar to TFA. Action Figures like Hux, Poe, Finn, etc are all essentially wearing what they wore in TFA, so the figures are no different at this point. Only the real hard core collectors will buy them for completest reasons.

TLJ toys were easier to find compared to TFA toys as I don't know if it was a supply and demand issue or there was just more of a glut of TLJ Toys leftover because they didn't sell? There are were many TFA 2nd and 3rd wave Action Figures that just never made it to my area in any of the retailers, compared to TLJ where I had an opportunity to buy every one at some point. Heck, there were 3 TLJ General Leia's at Target this weekend alone, as I thought I was going to have to buy that online due to scarcity back in the fall.

I agree completely. We usually get some of the more obscure and/or interesting characters in the last wave. It took me MONTHS to find Kylo Ren Unmasked for a reasonable price, and as it is, I ended up paying more than what he was worth. (Still a great figure, though!) I think you bring up a good point that a lot of the figures look too similar to their equivalents from The Force Awakens line to be big sellers. With a character like Poe, they easily could've replaced the pilot uniform with his captain uniform and sold that, but instead they packaged it in with one of the Crait vehicles and jacked up the price.

I think part of the sales decline is that kids just aren't into toys anymore. Every time I see people buying Star Wars toys, it's usually adult collectors. Why would kids have an interest in toys when they get iPhones at 8 years old nowadays? It's really sad. Technology has really decreased the value of the toy industry, I think. Most of The Last Jedi toys were pretty easy to find. I got all of the 3.75" figures from the first line on Force Friday and the few remaining ones that were released later online at a later date, so I haven't really looked a whole bunch, but I know a lot of stores have surpluses of them. Luke was really the only one that I thought was difficult to find from the first wave, and I think Leia was the hardest to find from the second wave.

It's so sad that this is what it's come to, though. I hope this isn't the case for the rest of the Disney Star Wars films going forward. Hasbro has so many issues they need to work out for the future. What they fail to realize is that the collectors are willing to give them their money if they give us what we want. They've made so many bad decisions, though, and repacks/repaints are a huge problem for them. I'm hoping that the Vintage Collection, even with all the repacks it will have, can bring back some of the collectors who have become displeased with how Hasbro does things.

I just miss the times when we got nearly every background character in the movies as a proper 3.75 inch figure with proper articulation and different materials. I'd really hoped they would do this for the new movies, but I guess Hasbro is in it for the quick profits. However, I'm sure they'd made a ton of money if they had adapted the same strategy they used in the prequel days.

It doesn't help that the retailers have no inventory either. I went to ToysRUs last weekend, and they have very few TLJ toys yet they have a load of R1 toys still hanging around. Any SW fan knows that TLJ toys will sell better then R1 toys simply because the TLJ line will have Luke, Leia, Rey, Kylo. As we have talked about, Target is the only decent retailer with any inventory of current SW toys.

Lucasfilm/Hasbro should embrace the older collector and just reshift their market strategy as that is exactly what happened with Baseball Cards. No kids collect Baseball Cards anymore, so there are more high end cards produced for older collectors who want good value for their collections. I would love to find a 3.75 Finn/First Order Figure, or even 3.75 Snoke at this point, but they are clueless as to what consumers want? Did we really need another 3.75 Hux wearing the same exact outfit as TFA?

I agree—although, don’t worry, we got plenty of Constable Zuvio! ;) All jokes aside, though, it’s true. Not only have they completely ignored many of the background characters, but even some of the more important characters (like Holdo, or even more variations of Luke) are being overlooked. The very small gap in between The Last Jedi and Solo surely isn’t helping, but a lot of this is on Hasbro. I also feel like they could’ve done a few things differently with the waves. There should have been more figures in Wave 2. Leia should’ve been moved to Wave 1 because she was announced on Force Friday but wasn’t released for months. I just hope Hasbro gets their act together because this is ridiculous. Many of these characters from The Last Jedi will never have proper action figures, I’m sure, or if they do, it won’t be for a long time.
Yeah, I agree. Toys R Us is really struggling. I heard they’re closing a bunch of stores across the country. The fact that they are still selling Rogue One toys surely doesn’t help. (I mean, I think that’s great for people who are still looking for them, but there should be an equal amount of figures for The Last Jedi, if not more.) Plus, like you said, any line with Luke, Leia, Rey, and Kylo Ren is going to sell better than a toyline with a bunch of irrelevant characters to people only familiar with the Saga films.

I think you’re absolutely right. Older collectors really make up a larger portion of Lucasfilm and Hasbro’s demographic, so they need to shift their focus to them. Hasbro is trying to do that with the Vintage Collection reboot, but I still have my doubts about how it will be handled. I know they’re finally giving us a proper Snoke figure in that line, so I’m remaining optimistic. I think the Vintage Collection could be a great marketing move for Hasbro if they handle it correctly. Unfortunately, I don’t think they will, but the line was a huge success with collectors last time—in fact, collectors are the reason they brought it back, so hopefully it will do well.

I have a few walmart exclusive 3.75 inch figures, but that's it. I have a massive collection of fully articulated 3.75 inch figures, but there is just nothing to buy for me. I don't want those downgraded pieces, so I switched to collecting the 6 inch figures which are twice as expensive. Just go and find a properly articulated 3.75 inch FO stormtrooper: you'll hardly find it or at an inflated collectors price.

I do collect Hot Toys and Lego Star Wars stuff, and there's a marked improvement. So I really think it's Hasbro's fault. They're just trying to get a quick dime and cannot really keep up with the rate in which the movies are released.

Yeah, the Walmart exclusives were generally excellent, it was simply a matter of finding them. My local Walmart has been selling the Starkiller Base Han / General Leia / Captain Phasma wave for MONTHS now with no sign of the Black Series 3.75” figures from The Last Jedi. (I only cared about Luke from that line, but it still bothers me that I can't find him anywhere.)

The 6” figures are GORGEOUS and so well done, but there's no way I can afford to buy all of them. I limit myself to a few every time a new film comes out. I currently have Rey/BB-8 and Kylo Ren (Unmasked) from The Force Awakens, and Rey, Kylo Ren, and Luke from The Last Jedi. They're amazing figures, but I have to be selective in which figures I buy from that line, otherwise I'll buy all of them and go broke! It's really a shame that the quality of the main line of 3.75” figures has diminished so quickly, though.

You're right, though. It's literally all on Hasbro because the other companies are not decreasing the quality of the products. One of the issues is probably that Hasbro is unable to keep up with the new films every year, like you said. I can't see them wanting to start making crappy toys now when the potential for them to make money off Star Wars is at an all-time high, as opposed to all of the years they released new figures without any major new Star Wars releases. It's a shame, though. I hope this changes in the future because there are so many characters that were robbed over at Hasbro from the Disney Star Wars films (and don't even get me started on the injustices they did to Rebels).

I recently purchased Beckett's Star Wars Collectible price guide. My Star Wars Power of the force Jabba the Hutt's Dancers released in 1998 is only worth $20. The actress who played Rystall signed the back of my card at a comic con back in 2001, so i wonder what I can get for it? for now, I'm just collecting figures for my dioramas. I'm presently working on a Snoke Diorama, so I'll be getting the black series Praetorian guards, Snoke on throne, Kylo without mask, and Jedi Rey; I'm just collecting to build and display dioramas not collecting to get every figure, or to make a profit, maybe when i retire I'll open up my ebay or Amazon store... yet I'm still looking for Mary Poppins Leia 3.75 or Black series when released.

I can't remember much, but I think the argument is that what's being sold for a high price by some toy collectors is being sold for a dollar in the large stores.

Are the Rogue One 3.75" figures the standard ones or the Black Series ones? Every time I check, my local Walmart only has General Leia, Han Solo (Starkiller Base), and Finn in stock from the 3.75" Black Series line, but I would definitely consider picking up Jyn and Cassian from the 3.75" Black Series line if they're really that cheap and I can find them there!

I'm still trying to find the 3.75" Black Series Luke from The Last Jedi. I don't know that my Walmart ever even got it in stock.
