sorry, to be more specific, I meant that I’m not sure it was confirmed that one of the projects named in Rogue One was actually Starkiller! Thanks for the info!

Ah, I misunderstood! No, I have no idea if it was confirmed that one of the Special Projects in the Scarif vault was a referene to Starkiller Base, but that would've been cool :)

It annoys me that they wasted Ilum,
Starkiller Base was so unnecessary :/

    Thanks JJ...

I completely disagree. This was a very powerful way to develop an important location into something new, keeping it fresh and moving the story/world-building forward. And more importantly, it adds weight and consequence to the First Order's machinations; because of the FO, we now no longer have Ilium, making it one more reason why the FO has to be opposed.

Without consequence there is no tension, and without tension there is no conflict, and without conflict there is no story; my only complaint is that they didn’t point this out in the actual movie, where it would serve to add extra menace and significance to the FO and their evil scheme.

I'm glad you like it, but Ilum was one of the more interesting locations in SW for me and I just don't like how they turned it into yet another planet-killer.

What annoys me the most is that they rejected Alan Dean Foster's proposed backstory and explanation for SKB when he was writing the novelisation, it would've made so much more sense to use his ideas.
