Wow, so as if Rey was not enough of a Mary Jane, now she will defeat Kylo and a reincarnated Snoke without any training. But hey, she as the books...

The movie is so ambiguous anything is possible, could it be possible that snoke put that force bubble around Liea to keep manipulating Ren?

Sure it is also possible that pigs can fly with CGI, but there is no epic feel to Star Wars anymore. This was not an epic adventure, there was not struggle for the good guys. It was kinda meh...

Obviously fictional systems need rules, but the Force has always been pretty Mystical.

Otherwise, we might as well still be asking why the Emperor could use force lightening, since it wasn't established earlier in the trilogy.

the thing with Snoke coming back to life is, where does that leave Kylo Ren? he's just taken the mantle of Supreme Leader; if they take it away all of a sudden it'll stymie his whole arc.

also, when would Snoke be coming back to life? if he does it as soon as Hux and Ren are on Crait then is the plan for us to read about Snoke coming back to life in the opening crawl of 9? or does he slip quietly into the night to... uhh... get robot legs? that's what people do when they're cut in half, right?

Well she wasn't a Mary Sue in TFA, but she is definitely not a Mary Sue in this one. Why? She literally asks a man "I need someone to show me my place in all this" and then needs a man (Kylo) to help her escape Snoke.

But I have a question, someone probably put it in this thread before. But is there any chance that Snoke might have felt that Kylo was going to kill him and just let it happen. Like Palpatine was begging Luke to kill him in ROTJ?

What if Snoke(Plagueis) managed to briefly influence Luke in that fleeting moment were he contemplated killing Ben, thus turning Luke into a catalyst for Ben's fall to the darkside.
What if it is indeed some long master plan he devised long time ago, he did find a way to return from the dead and his assassination from both Palpatine and Ben was his idea all along?
Ironic, Palpatine murdered him in his sleep and Luke contemplated killing Ben in his sleep (thanks to Master Shaitan for pointing that out)

Not sure if this has been posted before, but in Star Wars Insider Magazine’s "The Last Jedi Issue", it mentions "Snoke trained Kylo Ren & at least one other apprentice". It wouldn't make sense to introduce some other random dark side user that Snoke has trained...but could it be Sidious as his one other apprentice?

It’s a good thing Message boards weren’t around during the OT or Luke would have been shredded. Lukes training was very short and included sensing things and moving rocks mostly, yet he did pretty good against Vader with zero evidence he knew anything about lightsaber duels or physical combat except for two death matches with one of the most powerful force users in Star Wars cannon.

Actually, he did have lightsaber training with both ObiWan and Yoda. I mean he went into a cave and had a lightsaber fight with a force image. I would suspect that Rey is pretty good with lightsaber combat given her life. What she should not be able to do given her training is move an ENTIRE mountain of boulders. Thing is we have seen Luke struggle and grow. We have not see any growth from Rey, she just has powers. I mean she can force pull a lightsaber away from Kylo with ZERO training. Move mountains with ZERO training.

I see what your saying and your not wrong on her advancement. I was just comparing Luke because he had less than probably two weeks with both masters and zero starship experience and blew up the first Death Star and took on Vader twice. I love both their characters but I feel that with internet back then he would have got the same treatment (not saying you would) because both of their accomplishments are far fetched if we take the magic of it away. For me at least, the magic of it all is part of what makes me love these stories.

Actually, we don't really know how long was Luke's stay on Dagobah, because Lucas was unclear about the matter. And apparently Luke had finished his training via Obi-Wan's "How to Be a Jedi" handbook, although I found that idea rather laughable and very Gary Stu. As for blowing up the Death Star, he had help, thanks to Jyn Erso's team, Leia, Obi-Wan, his X-wing squadron, Han and Chewie. And Vader could have easily killed him during their first duel.

I think another hint that Snoke might have expected Kylo to kill him is his constant taunting and demeaning treatment towards Kylo during the whole movie. Why else portray Snoke like this? Was he just being mean for the sake of it or did he had ulterior motives:

    The potential
    of your bloodline.
    A new Vader.
    Now I fear
    I was mistaken.

    Take that
    ridiculous thing off.

bested by a girl who had
    never held a lightsaber!
    You failed!

    Alas, you're no Vader.
    You're just a child
    in a mask.

Could it just be that he's not that powerful? He's obviously old, so why didn't he show up before this trilogy?

Kylo was always destined to be the main bad guy of this trilogy, Snoke was a means to an end, Maul in a reverse role. Also, it doesn't make sense for the most powerful dark side user ever to suddenly pop out of nowhere or it makes the death of Sidious pretty meaningless. I think the reason he didn't appear wasn't because of some grand plan, I think he simply wasn't powerful enough to match Vader or Sidious and has only come out of the shadows because the true masters of the dark side are gone.
I know it feels like we don't have any antagonists to fear at the moment and his character was mis sold but what we're seeing the rise of Kylo Ren. I'd imagine if the the first we saw of Vader was him coming to terms with being a crippled cyborg we'd think we was pretty lame as well. I don't imagine him immediately becoming the Vader we know after he was put into the suit, I bet we skipped an awful lot of self pity and failure. We're just seeing this guy's journey to fully fledged badass on screen.

Snoke was a means to an end. Powerful, but nothing close to Plagueis/Vader/Sidious. As to why Luke didn't just dispatch him? That would involve somehow getting onto a colossal First order ship, killing 1000's of stormtroopers all coming at you at once, then facing someone on the level of say Dooku with 8 other powerful guards. Or he could have brought his nephew and padawans along to die in a mission to kill someone, not very Luke imo.

Makes me wonder if Snoke had some type of plan. He wanted Kylo to do it, or he put it in his mind to to do it. He knew...I don't know. It's possible.

TFA Snoke wants to get Kylo to complete his training. 15 minutes later when they are brought to Snoke in TLJ, he considers him worthless and does not a single bit of training in the last jedi. Man did the story tellers lose a great chance to make this movie so good.

Unless he meant that completing the training was striking Rey/his master down. Who knows what he meant at this point, but it could very well be that's what he meant.
