Meh. I saw Mufasa die when I was like 18-months old. Once you see that, all movie deaths are downhill. Expose you kids to the concept of death early enough, they'll be immune to most everything. :p

It's not that I don't agree, it just makes me sad to think there won't be an epic bloodbath. When a bloodbath is done right, it's just so powerful and magnetic. Like, how you can't tear your eyes away when you see a grusome incident. It grips your innards and makes your stomach turn, yet not watching isn't an option.

For me, gore and anguish is an integral part of war movies. War isn't glorius, fun, or some adventure. It's bravery in the face of overwhelming odds, making the ultimate sacrifice for your friends and the greater good, and dealing with all the horrors that must be endured to do the job at hand.

I know there are ways to convey this without the gore, but they reckon it's going to be a realistically styled movie, and gore is a central reality of war. So I hope there is some blood.

The thing I was most not excited about in regards to Rogue One was the potential lack of lightsaber action, or swordfights. However, after hearing all the rumours about Vader's role in the movie, and seeing the trailor with Donnie Yen doing that spectactu stuff with the stick, I am actually a lot more optimistic about seeing some great swordplay in this movie. Wasn't expecting that, so I hope it lives up to my expectations.

I hope to see Darth Vader kill some rebels, and I'm looking forward to seeing Donnie Yen as well.
The subject of the movie though is not what makes me go see it on the big screen. But then again It is a Star Wars movie after all, and SW movies are ment to be seen on the big screen.

Not to take your fairly lighthearted post and get all serious, but i actually agree with the sentiment in a serious way.

When i was young, my father passed. I think death ( like sex) is something we try much to hard to shelter children from in n our culture. Death as a concept, shown to children tastefully in fiction can help conceptually prepare them for it in reality.

I'm very sorry to hear that.

I agree with your view. There are definitely right ways and wrong ways to discuss concepts like death and sexuality with kids. Showing your kid the Red Wedding scene from Game of Thrones isn't a good way to explain death to your kids; it certainly does illustrate the concept of death, but it's traumatizing and grim, even for adults. Telling kids that our loved ones are not completely gone after they pass- whether because you subscribe to a belief system that believes in a continuation of existence after death or in a more abstract, "they influenced your life in many ways" manner- is far healthier from a mental point of view.

Same with sex- I wouldn't show Dreamgirls to a kid to teach them about sex. Letting my kids watch nature documentaries when they are little and then explaining "you know how animals 'mate'? That's what people do" like my parents did when I was in middle school? Perfectly appropriate. ;)

When I read about the death of the characters of RO I remember the Predator movie, where the Predator kills each character, one by one, until he's killed by Schwarzenegger. I think it'd be cool if they do something like that, but Vader wouldn't die, of course :p

I really hope, no matter what becomes of the Rebel spies, that Vader gets defeated on some level, to give us a scene of Vader kneeling before a holographic Emperor, and Palpatine is pissed off at Vader. He should tell him he has failed, and he will now be "put on a leash" and be made to submit to Grand Moff Tarkin. In doing this, it explains why the Dark Lord of the Sith is under the command of Tarkin in ANH.

I would also like to see a bounty hunter, preferably a Mandalorian, use a disintegrating gun a rebel before Vader can question him, causing Vader to kill him.

I could def see the Rebels escaping with the plans and then Vader hunting them down one by one until the last one sends the plans off on their merry way and then dying.

Earth Vaders moment will probably just be him force-choking director Krennic. Which would be great, but I digress

    Sorry to hear that.

Er... I reckon you meant "Showgirls" rather than "Dreamgirls". "Dreamgirls" is the movie about the singers lol (Beyoncé et al.)

And that would fit a lot with the post-ANH narrative of the Darth Vader comic series.
