Ben holding Rey was similar to Anakin holding his mother's lifeless body.

More of a thematic rhyme but since there isn't a thread on that I thought I'd ask in this one. TROS and TPM both had an end battle of the GoT Night King variety in that the collective can be defeated by taking out a single head component - the droid army in TPM and the Star Destroyer fleet in TROS were both critically dependant on a single head, as it were. Were these the only two instances of such in the films, or am I forgetting another?
    --- Double Post Merged, Dec 29, 2019, Original Post Date: Dec 29, 2019 ---
Come to think of it, that theme also has a rhyme in TROS in that Sidious is the head of the collective Sith, and Rey takes all of them out by taking out the head. Also Sidious becomes the head of the Senate collective in ROTS which is mirrored in TROS, he even makes similar gestures with his hands to both collectives. In ROTS he says "I am the Senate" and in TROS he says "I am all the Sith".

Lando gets to fly the Falcon in the climactic space battles of the concluding chapters of both of the Trilogies in which he appears.

The TPM is a flip of ROTJ's Shield Generator which is on the planet and which protects the Death Star, and the Shield Generator is protected by a ground force where a full scale battle takes place.
In TPM, the Droid ship is the signal source running all of the droids from a space station for the full scale battle taking place. And like TPM, the "source" weakness has a dual back up, but like the Death Star of ROTJ, it's single-threaded - though there's "two", it has to transfer from one to the other - one on the ground, and one in the air, which is a mix of both ROTJ and TPM - ROTJ on the ground, TPM in the air (though, you can argue that all are a bit of both one on the ground and one in the air type of design in an abstract way).

TROS mixes both together in having the Death Star like station on the ground, and a signal source which is controlling all of the ship's capability to function (like the Droids), and like the Death Star a big blast is shot out, but this time from the ground station, and it's a one-to-many massive shot instead of a many-to-one shot like how the Death Star works by building a giant single shot from multiple laser canons.

It's a really nested, complex, and cool mirror.

We even have the low-tech vs high-tech mirror in the Orbak invasion landing party, which itself is a mirror flip of the landing party of ROTJ, where instead of being on the ground, we're now in the air. And TPM flips the ROTJ by having the landing party on the same arena as the main battle.

In all three the hero leaves the others to go face off a different threat. In ROTJ, Luke leaves the public threat, to face the personal threat by going up to the ship in custody. In TPM, Anakin leaves the personal threat (which everyone else is fighting) by escaping custody/death, to go up and face the public threat, and in TROS Rey leaves the public threat to face the personal threat by going down willingly and ends up restrained, and her personal threat ends up being the public threat directly, which she then has to take out to stop both her personal and the public threat.

    It's really quite beautiful.

    Cheers,
    Jayson

Forgive me if this has been posted already

At the end of RotJ, we see a montage of prequel planets celebrating the Empire's fall.

At the end of TROS, we see a montage of Original Trilogy planets with falling Star Destroyers.

I like how both trilogies reflect back on the previous trilogy in this moment.

TFA ends with Rey finding the last Jedi at the first Jedi temple. TROS begins with Kylo finding the last Sith at the first Sith temple.

Similar to Ben's gestures that mimic Han Solo, during the flashback of Luke and Leia training, Leia ignites her saber the same way Ben does. Pointing down towards the ground to her side. JJ is a great with little details like this

You're right. The especial edition of ROTJ we can see Bespin, Tatooine and Coruscant.
In TROS we can see Endor, Bespin and Jakku.

I'm not 100% certain on this, but I think this pattern in the montage is a tell of the thematic round-robin sequence through the whole film.
I could be wrong on that; not sure yet, but I think the sequence of the film which each planet is from is the order of the sequence sampling for theme mirroring.
I believe that makes it: 2,3,1.

I'm not 100% certain on this, though.

    Cheers,
    Jayson

I wonder if this (image that I totally stole off @Messi)...

...was deliberately meant to call back to this? (image that I totally stole off the interweb)...

In ROTS Palpatine senses Anakin in danger and goes to him.
In TROS Leia senses Ben soul is in danger and reaches out to him.

The lightsabers of the twin Skywalkers get buried on the planet of the twin suns where it all started.

I noticed the Padme/Rey position being mirrored but the Anakin/Ben smile, put into the context of that series of images. That is, that's immensely excellent. Did you put that together? Who did that?
