I left the cinema rather than finish watching Face/Off... didn't 'get' Starship Troopers and can (as others have said) never get back the time I lost to Suicide Squad. But did I learn from all this...? No, no I did not and I ended up sitting through Life with Mrs Lazarus on Saturday night. What a grind :(

face off was not good lol.. agree with you there.

Starship troopers (just the first one) has grown on me over the years.. my brain still tells me it's awful, but i dunno.. i kinda like it.

Karl Urban's dredd was the same.. i walked out of the theater saying it was utter garbage, but i've now got dvd & BR versions of it and happily watch it whenever i see it on regular channels. a 'grower' to say the least. (i think i heard they are possibly making another with KU?)

ok.. 'Life'. perhaps that will turn into a so-called 'cult classic' in time, but i feel like they really did a number on us with that film. trailer looked interesting, cast looked good.. ingredients were there. i wanna use bad words to describe it... it was not good.

I was one of the few who liked Dredd from the outset... possibly because I had low expectations off the back of the risible Stallone version. I know a lot of folk hate on it due to comparisons to (frankly brilliant) The Raid which just happened to arrive at the same time, but I like and own BRs of both. You're right about KU too - he's in talks with a production company about moving into a limited tv series for one of the streaming providers.

Life took a good central premise - that our first encounter with an alien lifeform could stem from a single celled organism, added a good looking cast and then imploded into cliches, with characters completely going against their own principles and training to just be idiot enablers... with a twist you saw coming the minute the final solution was 'proposed'.

Ah well... what will be the next duffer. I hear they're working on Suicide Squad 2

The Snowman is my latest one. They've absolutely butchered a decent story. Val Kilmer is laughable in his cameo.

Yeah, The Snowman is another one where the trailer is promising, but reviews so far have been less than positive. That said, BR 2049 left me cold as it looked like the atmospheric original was being succeeded by typical Hollywood bombast, which I assumed would be mauled. Then it transpires that 2049 isn't all explosions, fights and gunplay, the critics love it, but the moviegoing public don't buy it and it doesn't do anywhere near the numbers the studio expected.

I'm surprised someone replied to my old post. Since I posted it, I tried again. I fell asleep. One day I shall finish it.
Meeting Tommy Wiseau must have been cool. What was he like?

He was great. My name is Thomas too, so he thought that was an incredible coincidence.

He was hilarious in the Q&A, though. Someone asked what it was like meeting James Franco on the Disaster Artist set, and his answer was "Who cares? Next question!"

hahahaha ~ me and Frank Miller, we just don't get along.
    all style, no substance.
i wouldn't call it the worst movie i have ever seen (not by a long shot), but it's the only one i have ever paid for and considered walking out of.

I'll admit the SPIRIT (2008 directed by Frank Miller) was really bad... Frank Miller one of my favorite comic book creators can't direct a decent film... so sad...

There's a few candidates for this, in my mind. The first is more of a category, which I regret delving into during my teens and 20s - the horror genre. It messed up my mind so badly, to the point that I became someone emotionally I never wanted to be. When your thoughts are of murder almost 24/7, plus a ton of other garbage...trust me, its a huge red flag.

In terms of boredom, I actually saw "Battlefield Earth" in theaters...and words can't express how much i wanted to walk out. But I had no ride home, so I tried in vain to sleep through it.

Lastly, I'm reminded of a sleazy film that I was basically guilted into seeing, by a former roommate - "The Girl Next Door" with Elisha Cuthbert. That movie made me feel horrible, in ways I still can't describe.
