There's no reason to assume everyone dies

I always assumed Obi-Wan was lying to protect Luke from the truth about Vader (well that and GL didn't intend in ANH for Vader to be Luke's father and he had to fix this issue he created). He wanted Luke to be ready for the revelation and he was not at the start of ANH.

 

Yeah, I should of added Ahsoka on my list for the people that could live, basically yes, she is no longer a jedi. I really hope Kenan doesn't retire from being Jedi, Id rather him die like a heroic jedi knight then have him hide the rest of is life during the time of the movies, in which afterwards he can become a force ghost, similar to qui-gonand others. If Ezra does turn to the darkside, he would be a threat to alot of people including the rebels, and empire. If Ezra became a sith, he would have to be taken down at some point. Who knows though, there are still some crazy theories on Ezra being in the future star wars movies so you never know.

But anyways back to the topic at hand. Final thoughts I think some people are kicking the bucket in rogue one. and others will live through the wrath of Vader. Hopefully we see more of these characters in a comic book or novel.

 

Well Obi Wan and Yoda were not above lying to, or at least being "selective" with the truth, when talking to Luke, or what they saw as the "greater good." So I wouldn't really take anything that they say at 100% face value. Ahsoka's possible survival is set up in the Rebels season 2 finale (which gives them a really big "out" in that regard).

 

Well, clearly Jyn Erso has to live if she is going to hook up with Luke and give birth to Rey

Seeing the fact that Edwards said that it was still very much in the middle whether or not Disney and Lucasfilm would allow him to let everyone die, I think you've touched a nerve. That's the fun of Star Wars, the predicting and the theorizing. I for instance maintained the idea that Jyn could be Rey's mother

I feel a little vindicated that I think I was one of the first people on this site, and probably the only staff member (IIRC) that suggested everyone would die in Rogue One. It's one of those coin flip decisions there was no analysis in my prediction just going off of what felt right

I understand how you can come to that conclusion, when you look only at the original crawl.

But I think you have to look at the filmmakers intention with Rogue One...

It isn't 'some' are gonna die, it's "They've gotta die" and that implies the whole team.

They all gave their lives for the greater good!
I'm confident they're all dead, but for a good reason.
