SPOILER "This"...

I'm telling you right now... Kylo Ren's first appearance in the movie, is going to be him descending the ramp of his Command Shuttle when he arrives at the village on Jakku.

And I'm still convinced that the opening shot will involve a Star Destroyer deploying transport ships, with the implication that Poe is already at the village before the movie begins.

It gets things moving along a bit quicker, without skipping anything important.

Ha Ha! When I say what I say I don't mean the quality of the figure but the design. Maybe some will not agree with me but somehow I feel like there wasn't much effort in the designs of the aliens in TFA. I just can't get it out of my head that so far, most of the creatures I have seen look sucky compared to most of the ones we saw in both the OT and the PT.

 

The full faced aliens maybe criminals but the face covered dudes could be terrorists. ;-)

Well, I believe the problem is more of a general nature: full faces express some kind of personality, any kind of existing personality is obscured once masked or face covered.

There is a profound reason why we don't see the faces of Imperial soldiers but those of the Rebellion and/or Resistance fighters: Because we usually have sympathies for those whose faces we can see.

 

Probably Poe in his X-Wing informing someone of his arrival. Something like 'This is Red Leader 2827, requesting permission to land' or something like that.

Or Finn and the Stormtroopers standing together being briefed by Phasma or Hux about the mission on Jakku 'This will be your first taste of combat...' or something

 

True and also that I think they went a bit overboard. ANH gave us a few covered aliens like Jawas and Tusken Raiders and just Danz Borin and Nabrun Leids who were seen in the cantina but every other alien wasn't covered. In TFA I have seen that so far, with the exeption of these two dudes everyone else on Jakku has their face covered.


Now I'm not going to let my love of both the OT and the PT blind me as I do know that there were quite a few silly looking aliens and droids but I don't seem to think the the people behind this movie wanted to put much effort in the designs. I would think that after seeing so many awesome things in the past 6 SW movies, JJ Abrams could have come up with a few better things than this:

I just can't look at that ugly furry thing without wanting to hit it! I really hated the Ungnaughts from ESB but this thing makes them look WAY better by comparison!

 

I think you are being too harsh. IMHO, there can't be only references to the Original Trilogy, The Star Wars Holiday Special is also part and parcel of the OT charm and these two designs are probably an expression of that. ;-)

Well, We already know there is another last-named Hux in SW, so Hux's name is really his last name.

That's when she asked for FN-WHATEVER and they descend onto Jakku. Poe is there, trues to leave but KR captures him and torutres him to near-death .

 

Okay... so Boyega recently told ABC news that the 2nd word is "droid"

So I'm guessing:
- "This droid has picked up a group of incoming ships" - Random Villager
- "this droid of yours is ----" - Lor San Tekka

 

Tekka: This droid has no legs. How is it moving? What kind of sorcery is this? Be gone. Out of my tent! OUT!
