The Fall of the Odinson? Not Really
So there are numerous things going around about the new Thor comics, and beware, this article has some spoiler content.
I have read all of the new Thor comics since the beginning of the newly announced female Thor. Is it because Thor has become a woman? No. Its because The Odinson as he now prefers to be called, has a story that continues on throughout.
    Quick Rundown:
For those who missed these comics or who haven’t kept up, in Original Sin, Nick Fury “whispered” to Thor and immediately Thor dropped Mjolnir to the surface of the Moon he was standing on, no longer able to pick it up. He mourned over his loss, finally became angered that Earth was threatened, went to the vault in Asgard and got his old weapon Jambjorn, an axe, and went to help out. Long story short, he lost an arm trying to battle Malekith and had a new arm made from Uru (Same as Mjolnir) and then the “new Thor” lady picked up the hammer.
I know that was quick, grammatically irresponsible, and boring, but I have a point to make and not many people read this thread anyways.
Thor has a new role. She is powerful and can do new things with Mjolnir that you would think would make Odinson teem with jealousy. However, he doesn’t. He respects his former weapon so much that when he knows it has called to the new wielder he can only respect that she has it. Thor DOES however want to know WHO she is. That’s where the arc is currently headed. Who is Thor? Its someone that knows Thor, hell she even kissed him, and so he has a few names marked off his very Santa Clause-esque list.
Why am I telling all of this? Because many people are not giving the new Thor series a chance. Something much bigger is afoot and with Marvel’s universe changing so drastically very soon I feel like this is leading somewhere big. If you are a comic book fan, go read the new Thor. Cast out all your “Male Power!” feelings and go see whats happening. The old Thor, now Odinson, can hold his own against the new Goddess of Thunder because he is still a God and he still has Jambjorn and a new Uru arm.
Its worth it! Trust me! If you have any questions about the books, this is a spoiler article, just ask me. Also feel free to give your take on the comics, below.
    Thanks

I was shocked when it was announced a female would play the title role, not that whoever she is can't pull it off.

A god has become a goddess of war.

It's not for the movie, it's in the comics.

I'd like to see it in a movie, but that should be discussed in another thread, noted.
