A quick question for everyone about Luke. If he cut himself off from the Force, then why is he wearing Jedi Robes at the end of TFA when Rey first meets him?

That to me is messing with the audience as it would have more intriguing and more honest to have Luke dressed like he was at the beginning of ANH. Then we may have been debating something totally different in 2016-17.

Someone arguing the the virtues of a movie in a thread specifically for people who did NOT like the movie are not helping, they think they are, but they aren't. That is what I said. How that translates into "non-fan" is a question I guess for you to answer since I never said it.

A very good point, would have been a cool piece of symbolism but then, a lot of the outfits that aren't Jedi outfits look like Jedi outfits to me. I would have him dress more like the end of ANH. Medal Ceremony Luke looks like someone who has nothing to do with the Force, the Jedi, the Resistance, he looks like he's just an extra in the GFFA. White Tunic Luke at the beginning of ANH looks like a big Padawan to me

I suspect he was preparing to burn everything down, but Rey shows up and interrupts him. Rey leaves and he puts the robes back on to get back to it and then Yoda shows up.

Because RJ had a different idea on how to do that scene than JJ, but RJ was stuck with continuity.

You never literally said the phrase "non-fan," but you said there are fans, and then there are bodyguards of the franchise, referring to the people liking the film who defend it in this thread. So........non-fans.

And to my knowledge, no other threads have banned people who hate the film from participating. As long as both sides are respectable, I'd welcome the debate.

I just wish this would be from both sides. I mean if one side permanently says people who criticize are a loud minority, biased because of preferences, will buy the bluray regardless of what they say etc, this won't make an open debate easier to be honest. I just really hope both sides just respect and accepts that people honestly have a different opinion.

I think you're twisting it Benjamin. We're all fans, but this thread is for fans who did not like this one movie. The fans that did like the film and come in here arguing against the very fans this thread is for are behaving like bodyguards. Those fans are overprotective. I think that's more what was meant. So no, not "non-fans". You brought that up (maybe trying to stir the pot?).

I was not the one who brought it up.

And if you think I'm the one trying to "stir the pot," take a look at my posts around the forum. I advocate for both sides participating in sensible discussion. I dislike both haters AND lovers of the film who post false information, post irrationally, or are disrespectful. I'd very much love the pot to calm.

The post heavily implied that defenders of the film are not true fans. Those kinds of posts stir the pot.

Fair enough buddy, but I didn't take the original post to imply, insinuate, nor intend for anyone here to be seen as "non-fans". And I most definitely don't see how it "heavily" implies it. It heavily implied the defenders of the film are overprotective fans. I don't think it helps at all to start bandying around the term "non-fans", especially on a forum for fans. Nobody else said "non-fans" mate.

    We're all fans :D

EDIT: On a side note, not directed at anyone in particular. Quick question, based on the title of this thread, would any post that heaps praise and argues against the perceived faults of the film, technically be off topic?

2nd EDIT: Another side note, why has no one posted in the threads for those that love and feel mixed about the movie since December 2017?

From what I read, they were originally supposed to have flying objects in back of Luke when Rey first encounters him, but RJ had them just shoot the scene without them because he wanted Luke to be cut off from the Force. That is why that scene at the end of TFA sort of bothers me because they
I enjoy good debate about the movies, as there are a zillion TLJ threads for that. You guys who like the movie who come in THIS thread don't get it, as THIS thread is for fans who don't like it. It's more of a venting thread to get things off our chest, and not a debate thread with the other side. There are legit discussions I have on this board about TLJ in other threads, and I'm interested in hearing the other side (for example, was it different on your 2nd viewing?) But this isn't the thread for that, as it specific states for those who HATED the movie. If you want to discuss things in other things, I would be happy too. :)

Having two different scenes for the same moment ( Rey and Luke meeting ) didn't seem to bother him.
