THREAD FOR THOSE WHO HATED THE MOVIE

I really hasted the movie, I still for the record haven't seen it in Cinema. But since owning a Youtube channel I have made 3 videos on this pathetic movie obviously.

 

So, you at best pirated it (or perhaps haven't even seen it) to form your opinion?

No really I was hurt, sabatoged, back stabbed and all of the things negative I can't put on communication in any language, it was not bad it was horrific to say the least. They killed the little boy imagination in me & that hurts bad!

I didn't dislike the movie, I actually enjoyed it. Now that, that's out of the way...

This.. is what I really want to say.

Kathleen Kennedy- What were you thinking? of course you're going to get 3 different movies, with little in continuity, with 3 different directors! Yes we know you learned your lesson, fired Trevorrow and brought back JJ to salvage the situation and gave Rian a full trilogy! JJ inherits a mess, but he can right the ship.

What's the difference you ask?

JJ Abrams actually made a film he thought would cater to the fans, whether or not you liked it, that's a different story, but as far as IX is concerned? he will do it again

Rian Johnson? here, this is what he told Hamill as told by him on the way he made VIII “They can’t always give the audience what they expect and what they want” but they “can give them something they don’t expect and what we want.”

Magic fimmaking rule no 1? The public are your customers!

You can't skip 30 some odd years and change a character with no background character development. SOOOO many people went in to see this movie with the last images of Luke being what he was in The Return Of The Jedi and a few shots at the end of TFA. You make him a depressed hobo? What did you expect??

Then you intertwine all that with certain scenes that would have made Mel Brooks proud! This was meant to be serious business, with 3PO and Chewie providing the lighter moments...but that's what you get...was it all bad? No. I believe he managed to get Leia out of Carrie, more so than JJ. Some parts were also jaw dropping. The film could have had much more urgency and promise. Just imagine had Kylo and the Knights of Ren actually tracked Rey to Luke's island and forced them to fight etc etc... they narrowly escape, Luke makes it back to the resistance and still face all those dangers etc etc..so many ways to have kept luke, luke and I'm sure you all have you're ideas too!

VIII just had so much promise. Now Rian J is being an a-hole about it, because he is so much on the defensive and refuses to admit to his mistakes.

I do believe IX will give us what VIII perhaps should have been.

This is a line that Rian Johnson wrote (thankfully cut). Yet I still have people telling me he is the cat's meow of screenwriting.

 

Good god. RJ is a talentless hack. Who had the pretty eyes? Beady eyes Kylo? Give me a break.

 

Right total dead eyes of a sociopath has Rey under his sway.(<Yeah rhyming) The only way that line would work believably is if Chris Pine was Kylo Ren.

I neither said nor implied "non-fans". Even the people who hated this particular movie are generally still fans of the franchise. I'm not going to take responsibility for how and what you choose to infer; that's on you.

Since I am not a mod, I am obviously not banning you or anyone from participating in this thread. I would think/expect your participation in this thread to be in line with the topic. I generally post here when I have something negative to say but I've posted in many other threads and talked about the things that I thought the movie did right. Just because I don't like this movie doesn't mean I think it was all trash, similarly I would expect that those who liked the movie might still take issue with some scenes or logical inconsistencies, and they'd be welcome to post them here. In truth, I don't agree with all the complaints that have been made about TLJ in this thread (I haven't agreed with a lot of them actually). But this is the thread for folks to express those, not for me to tee off on people who perceived slights that I didn't.

And EVERY time someone comes in here saying "you just don't understand" or "you're just mad your fan theory was confirmed" or any other stock attack, they don't make things better, they make it worse. And 113 pages in, I'm surprised that it continues to be an issue.

 

This gif perfectly encapsulates my feelings about Rian from the time I heard he was directing to my feelings at this very moment.

 

Now I'd get it if Chris Pine was in the role! I can see why they didn't include this line, besides the fact that it's awful. Putting that in would tell the audience that Rey was being swayed by a dead eyed, manipulative murderer and that would make her look stupid and naïve. We can't have our Mary Sue look bad like that!!

There's nothing great to look at there. The only thing pretty on him is his fluffy hair. Trying to make him out to be some heart throb is just .... LMAO .... not buying it! Now if they casted Chris Pine I may feel different!

 

I can’t speak for anyone else, but I sincerely hope JJ doesn’t waste a single second of his time contemplating what the fans want and makes a film that he’d want to see. Art isn’t a series of checkboxes. Just tell us a genuine story about compelling characters that matter. That’s all I ever want or need. But I’m probably in the minority.
