Did you even see the content of the post I was referring to? "Oh anyone who disliked the film just wanted something they didn't get...or they were fanboys...or they were conspiracy theorists...or they were hipsters...I mean, it's impossible for people to not like a film that got hyped to high heaven and expectedly fell flat on its face or anything."

The same goes for this whole thread as well as the dedicated "hate" ones. It borders on trolling.

I loved the movie. I truly enjoyed that it was so different, that so many of my 'theories' went right out the window... I loved that it was one of the most human and down to earth stories of the series, truly surprising. It was bold, and not simply adhering to the past or what we are 'comfortable' with. Plus, I have NO idea where they are going with Episode IX, but as they look forward with the saga, I look forward to where it will conclude.

And you managed to not answer a single thing I said. You may disagree, but truth is what it is. I grow tired of people a) turning Star Wars into religion and then b) claiming self righteous offense constantly. The Star Wars hate is so intense Lucas sold the company.

I may have claimed people don't really like Star Wars, I never insulted any one. If all you have are insults to offer in reply, the only idiot is you.

I did see it, I don't agree with it necessarily but it's not idiotic. Calling what we're doing idiotic, and saying we are bordering on trolling isn't cool. Please stop raining on the parade :).

Also loved that almost nothing that I predicted came true. Rian was right!

I don't know who the actor is, but he makes the best sour expressions I've ever seen. He and Adam Driver have hilarious chemistry on screen.

Rian tore my heart out, stomped on it, threw it in a toilet, sneezed on it, then used it as a loan for his new house.

And I loved every second of it! (Except Canto Bight!)

I just hope he ain't 100% comic relief in IX. I hope he either switches sides for petty gains and then dies, or he survives the film as the new supreme leader!

This is a very good movie. It is quite deep. It changed and expanded the saga in significant ways while still being accessible to the general audience. That's a difficult thing to pull off. There were so many wonderful little moments and the acting was very good. It runs 2.5 hours but felt very short.

For being the second movie in a trilogy, it is unusual in that so much was resolved: Luke gone, Rey's parents, Snoke dead, Phasma dead, Kylo takes over the First Order. It really moved the story along.

Well his speech in TFA was definately dark and intense so he clearly has some acting range. We shall see! :)

Yep I can see memes ideas being born because of Poe's debut of that one.

He's too stubborn to die. I think he'll be one of the last one's standing in IX on the FO side that is. I'd have loved to see him and Leia meet. She'd slap his sour expression off his face and he'd like it.

I see him and Kylo becoming best frenemies! They'll skip and play everywhere all day long! A comedic duo!

This. When we got into the car I said basically the same thing to the wife. This film, and Rogue One both did a great job bring the toll war takes on people home. War is horrible. It's messy. It takes a toll on you physically and emotionally and this film does a great job making you feel that horror.

Plus, we see that, in the end, the rebellion took its toll on Luke. As did the expectations. Very nicely done.

Again, right on point. I liked the fact that Rogue One expanded on the force and the idea of those who interact with it. This one cleared the table and it seems like anything is possible now. I still want a saga film to give us more detail on force worshippers/users, but otherwise I'm impressed with what they did.

And I've said it once or twice, but I'll say it again. This took a HUGE set of cajones on the part of the director.

I've seen people upset that we don't' know Rey's origins, and some complaints that we either won't get any detail or she really is the child of nobodies. Personally, I think Kylo was lying to her and he does not know who she is.

I also loved the diesel punk WWII style bombing run and the WWI reference to Dreadnoughts. Again, I loved the non digital effects and thought Rian did a great job getting performances outta these actors.

Gonna have to see it several more times to digest it all.

I am not sure I loved the film. I'm not even sure I'm excited to see more Rian Johnson Star Wars movies. I do know I loved Mark Hamill and I do know Luke's arc in this film was beautifully appropriate and even a little poetic. It has some beautiful bitter sweet moments and Star Wars for me, is at its best when its bitter sweet. The final Luke sunset scene is just, well, it was perfect.

Luke Skywalker is a beautiful hero, I love him and can't thank Mark Hamill enough for delivering him with such affection.
