I don't know if anyone signed up at www.obiwantstoknowme.com last year but they recently conducted a survey regarding a live tv show based around a family of scavengers who travel around the galaxy, with some possible Jedi links. Sounded a bit like Firefly/Serenity to me know, which is no bad thing.

I think that he has already said too much. I carried that survey out, too, and we were told not to discuss about it with other people...
But now that the nexu is out the bag, I vaguely remember that it was about a new LEGO Star Wars series, not a live TV show. A group of scavengers that take garbage and wreckages (loose LEGO pieces) and use them to build whatever they need...

I certainly hope KOTOR is one of these 3 shows. It couldn't be told properly in 2 hours. Give it 13 hours and you've got yourself a show. It could certainly span several seasons but hopefully they'll follow the BBC model and only do enough to tell the story they want to tell before moving on. What has me curious is that the rumor is for THREE shows. They must have three very specific ideas in mind.

I think a TV show set in the Old Repubic era would be pretty cool. Since it would take place in the distant past, It would be far enough removed from the films to allow for flexibility with the stories. The writers wouldn't necessarily need to worry about having to tie-in with the films or other shows that take place in a different era.

I'm very excited by this news, Netflix has an excellent track record with their television shows(I especially love Daredevil). I have no doubt that whatever we do get will be excellent!

I don't think TV has the budget to do KOTOR justice. Gimme a Kotor trilogy, 750 million for 7.5 hours. Not 3 million for 12 hours.

What era are you living in Alex? High concept TV shows have budgets of 1 million, (Penny Dreadful) 3 million (Breaking Bad), 4-5 million (Once Upon a Time), 6 million (Game of Thrones) for one hour these days. Back before the success of Daredevil and Disney's plans to expand on Netflix they laid down $200 million for 60 Hours of “Marvel Defenders project” which averaged out to 3.33 Million for each hour.

Back in the late 80s/early 90s Star Trek the Next Generation cost 18 million for 12 hours of television.
They spend more then 3 million for 12 hours of Reality shows.

Check out the budgets of these shows and mini-series: What's the budget of your favorite tv show?

An old one I guess. Thanks for the info.

I stand by my general point. Terra nova looks like it cost 4 mil an episode, and it looked terrible. Even on game of thrones, but effects sometimes looks terrible. If you had something like bsg in the star wars world, I'd buy it. Limited sets. But KOTOR needs battles with dozens of lightsabers and completely CGI planets. I don't think it could be done well on tv budget.

I agree a detailed live action KOTOR show and maybe the film noir/Blade Runner type 1313 series could work.
I recall Seth Green of Robot Chicken/Detors fame working a live action sitcom called The Outer Rim. Something about the low end hucksters and fast movers who populate the less desirable star systems.

A live action series filling in the 30 year gap between RotJ and TFA would be cool imo.

Seeing as it's pretty likely the last Anthology film will be Boba Fett, how great would it be to see a 6 part Netflix series following Obi-Wan between RoTS and ANH? Have a running time of an hour or so and just get down to some real character driven narrative. If Ewan McGregor was on board I think this would suit the Netflix model perfectly

I don't like this rumor. I'm guessing if it's on Netflix then it will be streaming? If so, not all of us fans have high speed internet capable of streaming. : (

While I understand why that would be disappointing, keep in mind, even things that are originally exclusive to streaming eventually come to DVD/Blueray. Why it is a good thing is because Netflix shows have far more freedom for storytelling than do network TV shows, and I'm not simply talking about more violence/sex being allowed, but rather the whole story telling form is different because they can make the episodes as long or short as they want, as well as making the season a length that makes sense for the story being told, in other words, no filler. Just look at the difference between a show like Agents of SHIELD and Marvel's Netflix offerings, the Netflix shows are faaaarrrr superior.

The closest we'll get to a comedy in SW is LEGO .
