I've been reading several of the comics series and books that are the new canon for Star Wars—to bide the time for the release of "The Force Awakens". Oh, and also I've been watching the "Star Wars Rebels" series. I've seen the movie a couple of times now, and I have seen some tie ins between the movie and the various canon. Here's a few of them I've caught.

1 - In the book "Star Wars Dark Disciple", Vos has a rare Force ability—psychometry—that when Vos touches an object, he is able to see visions of the object's experiences—past, present, and future.

In "The Force Awakens", Rey had a psychometry moment when Rey touches Luke's lightsaber for the first time. The scene appears to show Rey as a little girl being torn from her loved one(s) as well as several other scenes; scenes that were probably past, present and future. Rey appears to have this rare Jedi ability.

2 - In the book "Star Wars Battlefront: Twilight Company", there is an interesting scene in Chap. 29—from a stormtrooper's point of view. Quote, "Stormtroopers must remain in uniform at all times while in view of the public." She then removes her helmet in a security office and worries she may get caught. Also, she is beginning to become disillusioned with the Empire.

In "The Force Awakens", Captain Phasma is upset with Finn for removing his helmet; apparently it's a sign of individualism instead of collectivism, which appears not to be tolerated by the New Order. Finn is disillusioned with the New Order.

What are some tie ins you have seen between "The Force Awakens" and the canon, i.e. Star Wars Rebels, books, and comics?

Quite a big one is that the wreckage that you see on Jakku is from the climatic battle in Lost Stars.

It's all from the Battle of Jakku, which took place 1 year 4 days after ROTJ.

From the Darth Vader comics, the interaction between Vader and Grand Admiral Tagge with the Emperor is sort of similar to the interaction between Kylo Ren and Hux with Snoke. Still not finished with "The Weapon of a Jedi".

Temmin Wexley from Aftermath is one of the Resistance pilots in the assault on Starkiller base. His mother flew a Y-Wing in the battle of Endor.
Poe Dameron's parents are in Shattered Empire, his mother Shara Bey is an A-Wing pilot and the main character.

While all these are good points, just a small correction: psychometry only works for the past events - where have object been, who touched it, what kind of energy surrounded it. What Rey sees is a Force vision, the saber is a trigger, but it's the Force showing her the past, present and future. :)

Good point Lady. I'll have to rethink this, though I still believe the 'trigger' you speak of is some sort of Jedi ability.

I don't know how else to call it but trigger. But, Rey hears the voices first and that leads her to the basement. Basically, she hears the call of the lightsaber/Force and when she touches it - boom - Force vision.
