TLJ's teaser trailer was just unveiled approximately 8 months before the movie's release date. If that timing holds true for the Han Solo movie we could get the teaser trailer by the end of September. I imagine around that time we'll start getting more trailers, commercials, etc. for TLJ. It's a unique situation as we've never had contemporaneous trailers for two separate upcoming Star Wars movies.

I'm wondering if they would hold off on releasing trailers for Han Solo because they don't want to take away any attention from TLJ? Or could we see the teaser trailer for Han Solo in September and then the first full trailer released in theaters with TLJ? What do you think?

I think a teaser attached to The Last Jedi would make the most sense then a trailer in late February early March.

I think all we'll get in September is a teaser poster and maybe a couple of pictures. I suppose the other thing we could get in September is a brief teaser with no real footage to talk of, say just a shot of the Falcon

Nearly all Disney blockbusters follow the same marketing plan, regardless of the being animated, live-action, Star Wars, Pixar, etc. First teaser is more or less eight or seven months from the release and is at most two minutes long. Then comes the second one, also around teo minutes, six or five months before the premiere. Next comes a full two and a half minute trailer more or less two months before the premiere of the film. During the final marketing month we get an onslaught of TV ads. Granted, not all movies follow the same pattern but I'd be surprised if Han Solo film didn't.

Still no trailer... looks like this one isn’t following the standard marketing plan. Hoping to see it in theaters when I go see TLJ!

In order for the Solo trailer to be released, Avengers need to get its trailer first. However, since Incredibles 2 has already got it's first trailer, the one for Infinity War and, therefore, Solo, is close.

On the one hand I don't see them releasing it in December. They might want to keep the buzz laser focused on TLJ. On the other hand, though, January seems late for a blockbuster to get its first teaser.

We're entering a phase when everybody is going to talk about TLJ and I don't think Disney should interrupt this. It's better to give Solo it's own room. In the macroscale, the trailer buzz could get lost in the TLJ conversations.

Now that the teaser poster has started showing up in theaters I wonder how much longer they will want to wait until releasing a teaser trailer. I found the image below in another forum so it appears that they're locked in with the May release date now.

I would think that they would want to time a trailer release with TLJ but could understand how they may not want to confuse audiences. The next logical place after that would be a major sporting event since they seem to like targeting those audiences. The Super Bowl would seem to be out for that as it's on NBC this year but the National Championship football game is on ESPN so that would seem far more likely if there's nothing on TLJ.

I'm honestly expecting that we'll see a Solo trailer when TLJ releases in two weeks...likely in the on-screen previews right before the movie starts.

I hope that they tell us before the movie to stay tuned for something after the credits and then the trailer for Han Solo is at the end of TLJ. I know this is not something Star Wars has ever done but I feel like it would be really interesting and exciting for audiences to stay after for that.... I think this would be better than a preview before as you might avoid some confusion from casual star wars goers on why this movie is set before the one they are about to watch. I guess that could still happen but I think it's easier if it's after the film.

Interesting enough I finally saw Thor Ragnarok at the weekend at the end of all the credits they had a Infinity War Trailer which gave anyone who stayed till the very end a nice surprise. Has anyone else had a similar experience & there was no warning this was happening. Now Marvel has done mid & end credit scores in all there movies while SW traditional haven't but this is the first time I've scene a full trailer at the end of the film.

oh wow, they showed the Infinity War trailer at the end? that's pretty cool! i didn't think they'd do that.

Star Wars has never really had a tradition of post credit sequences so somehow i doubt they'll follow suit with Thor.

i agree with @Trevor in that i expect a trailer attached to TLJ once that hits theaters, then we'll get a digital release.

Jurassic World is dropping it's trailer Thursday.
I could see Han Solo debuting a teaser Friday or Saturday

While it would be interesting to see something after the credits of TLJ for Han Solo I don't know that they would necessarily want to do that, especially if TLJ ends on some kind of cliffhanger or big shocking moment. What would be really cool is for them to have a teaser trailer before TLJ with an introduction by Harrison Ford so he could sort of pass the torch as it were. That's probably more of a fan wish on my part but I think that would be really cool and could completely make people forget about all the turmoil during production.

In any event, I would imagine that they've got to have a plan to get some kind of teaser out in the next month or so. Putting it in front of TLJ would make the most sense but they could wait until the College Football championship game as I said in an earlier post. After that the next likely place would be in front of Black Panther but that's not until mid-February so that seems like too long from now. Hopefully we'll hear something soon since we're now down to a week until TLJ opens.

Maybe we would get a confirmation tonight at the Premiere whether we will get a Solo A Star Wars Story teaser before or after The Last Jedi.

Rumors have it they they might show a Han Solo teaser at the end of TLJ (whether its a full trailer of a BTS) for the Fan Event only. It does say we're suppose to see special content. I'll find out Thursday at 6 if it's true or not.
