Not to burst your bubble or anything but I'm not sure if that GMA information is credible.

    Does anyone care?

I don’t say that meaning to be a troll or be negative just for the sake of being negative...I literally mean does anyone (outside the hardcore fans) care about this movie?

Most of my friends and family that I have spoken to about it either don’t know that the film exists and the vast minority that do know of it’s existence couldn’t care less about a Han Solo film that doesn’t involve Harrison Ford.

What’s ironic is the whole narrative of TLJ coming from the talking heads was the Franchise needed to be blown up as it will benefit in the long run. Yet in 5 months we have a movie on a character from the 1977 movie.

If they want to really get original, stop relying on the OT in some form or another in an upcoming movie!

    Where has that been said?

I don't see why they cannot do both and move on and still show love to classic characters. There is no formula somewhere that says that they can't is there?

I mean, right now might be a bad time to gauge that. TLJ is still in theaters, and I imagine that probably fills up people's Star Wars quota at the moment.

But in a few months? I mean, people got pretty excited for movies about Thor and Guardians of the Galaxy this year. I think something about a little dude called "Han Solo" might pique some interest.

And yeah, it's not gonna do as well as The Last Jedi. But that's not really a fair metric, anyway.

Yeah, it won't be huge like a saga movie, but should fare at least as well as Rogue One.

I would say yes, in the broad definition of "anyone", I think there are probably more than 2 or 3 people on Earth that probably care about it.

Countless articles of critics and bloggers defending the movie. I can’t link them from my phone but I will post some.

Two right here in my household that I can absolutely vouch for.

OK, even if it has been said, what is the significance of bloggers in terms of these movies being made?

The significance is this constant narrative we hear that it’s time to move on from the OT and OT fans and the death of Luke and eventually Leia are a metaphor of that. That’s all you hear about fans who didn’t like TLJ, “Oh they’re just whiny OT fanboys....”

The problem is Disney continues to make each movie that relies on the OT in some form of another so it sends a mixed signal. Until they truly do something original without any OT characters (possibly in Rian Johnson’s new Trilogy) this franchise is still living in the OT movies to keep relevant.

Still don't understand where you are getting that. I am an OT fan since day 1 and I love TLJ.

I still don't get what you are bent about. All of Star Wars canon as we know it stems from the OT. It's not a mixed signal, it is just how it is. Bloggers and even critics are of ZERO relevance when it comes to these stories being told. Regardless, it goes without saying that Luke, Han and Leia were not going to last forever.

Nobody has to move on from the OT, you can continue to love them as long as you like. However, the stories will move on. They have to. Moving on does not mean erasing the past. All of that said, you are in the forum for the Han Solo movie and you are mad about what bloggers say about folks who don't like TLJ.

Rian Johnson's trilogy will be with 100% new characters.

Have to agree 100% on this one. They have bled the OT stories/characters and that time frame dry. Time to move on.

EDIT: Having not yet seen the Han Solo movie(or even a trailer), I am currently qualifying my statement above as "after the Han Solo movie".

Rumours are GMA on the 12th. Anything else leaked to back that up or disprove?
