    If he had stayed on Tatooine, he would most likely followed the path of his adoptive parents - Owen and Beru - and Owen's parents before, so got married and inherited the moisture farm. After everything we saw in TLJ, you can surmise that Luke had some regrets, even subconscious ones.

    As its says in my OP,..whatever it is..it pulls that question newertheless.

    Mark Hamill once said for him to get into the character that Luke needed for TLJ, he imagined Luke had a wife who was murdered .

    But even you said it was a dream...that said I'm bit skeptical of novels and if they truly are canon. Like how TLJ acts like Poe and Rey never met, but the novelization says they did.

    That is because in a early version of the script the one they based the novel they did meet. That was obvasly changed quite late on & for some reason they never informed the author of this change. Also novels are canon unless they contradict the film in which case the film takes precedence.

    People who read the first chapter ( I preordered novel, it don't have any material).

    Says that Luke is dreaming or phanthasizing about his alternative life, what would be if he just sold those droids that day in New Hope( R2D2 and C3PO)...what woul be his life than.

    He dreams he would have a wife,.... Comie...its a girl we know from deleted scenes of New Hope and its novelisation ...
