    Spoilers.

Has no one read Heir to the Jedi? The new canon book where Luke travels (between ANH and ESB) to an ocean-covered world with a small speck of land, where his first love, Nakari, is killed? It was called Omereth. And I believe R2 had to plot the hyperspace route to get there. At the end of TFA, Luke is on a planet matching the exact same description, and is standing in front of what appears to be a small memorial. After I saw TFA, I figured everyone would be talking about this...

Cool. I never read the book because it got a lot of negative feedback. So thanks for the info.

I don't doubt it. But nakari kelen's grave?
Sure, stop by and visit it, Luke, but sticking around? that's a bit heavy for a fleeting romance from 35 years ago.

This make a lot of sense. I have not read the book, because I tend to get disinterested in First-Person perspectives...it's why it took me years to get through the short book: "Dracula"

During the movie they mentioned Luke attempting to find old Jedi Temples and more specifically the first, IIRC.

When she walked the "monk" "monastery" steps up the mountain, I assumed that that is where he was at and the temple itself was either not in the shot or underground.

Every time I see negative reviews making fun of him standing on an island for years, doing nothing but staring into the ocean, all I can think is, "I promise you, force or no force, Luke did not build and age those steps to look thousands of years old. You really think he got that bored?"

I've been meaning to post this. It's not for certain that is where he is, but this is the conclusion I reached as well

Okay but where is his spine?

Wait, don't tell me, it's covered in the novel isn't it?

He most likely would have returned to Omereth because it's a good and secretive spot to hide out. Not solely because of the history with Nakari. And it seems like the stone is perhaps a memorial? Not a grave.

Honestly, if it turns out he's not on Omereth, and there's no connection between the end of TFA, and HTTJ, that will be a huge disappointment. The novel will have pretty much been for nothing. With the connection, the new canon novel actually serves a purpose. It's a very cool piece of Luke's past.

Yep along with everything else which was left unexplained.. this is great storytelling folks!

Edit: look its a good movie, but there are flaws. I'm still a fan of Michael Ardnt.

This is extremely interesting. If IIRC, HTTJ has hints about TFA... did he also find an old cross saber in this novel? Or is that a different one? Perhaps there is something about that place that he is trying to learn, uncover, or guarding.

It's not called 'Ahch-To Island'. The planet the island is on is named 'Ahch-To'. I read the script and scene introductions. ;)

It's an odd name, considering that every other planet name or character name is alliterative, monosyllabic, or otherwise very easy to remember.

"Ahch-To" doesn't compute with me, but I guess it's there now. And if VIII and IX follow the Abrams editing technique, any mention of actual place names will probably be edited out anyway!
