Its fine to have your own opinion about the movie. Because no matter what the movie would be, you would still nit pick it and wouldn't like it. But don't ruin it for others. Just because somebody loves it, you don't have to be like (Poor guys defending this movie... YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE guys)

This movie was made for everybody, and OT fans LOVED IT. Yes there are similarities to ANH.. but no matter what the story would be, there would always be similarities. The movie captured the mystical feeling of the force, something that prequels ruined. It established some of the best characters in Star Wars in years to come. And it gave us so many questions that will be answered in the next two movies. We have a motive for a villain to get better, he wants revenge. There are actual personal issues between characters. We have a great friendship and thats exactly what we had in A New Hope. We have Kylo Ren (who is in my opinion the best written villain in star wars so far) We see him both as a most menacing guy and a person who is torn within by a dark side. We see him as a leader of knights of ren and as a twisted son of Han Solo. We see a lot of parallels as I mentioned in my thread where Poe says "When there is a light there is still hope" and as soon as the light was gone, Kylo's face turned red which led to immediate action and killing Han Solo. Or Rey walking all the way up at the end showed us how far she went from a lonely scavenger to a soon to be great Jedi. You gotta see all those little things, not just what you see. Think about the movie, think about what it brings, you may not like the story, but that doesn't mean that the movie is bad. The movie established something great, and it needed to be like that because it needed to show that this movie is for everyone. It needed to be like that because it needed to set up the universe again. As I said, so many unanswered questions will be answered but first there have to be questions. I believe Maz will explain how she got the saber. We will know who Rey's parents are. We will know who Snoke is. We WILL have the answers in the next two episodes. Please, try to look at it from this point of view. THANKS

Well said, couldn't agree more, loved the movie so much and more than that it made me more excited about the future of Star Wars than I ever remember being.

The beauty about this Trilogy is the fans that didn't like it can walk away because this Trilogy might not be for you. The PT's hook was how Anakin turned to the darkside so you had to stick around for Episode 3 and see how it played out even if you didn't like Episode 1 & 2.

I loved the movie so I'm in for Episodes 8 & 9. I don't begrudge anyone for not liking the movie nor try to convince you otherwise. I would just say if you didn't like TFA, Im pretty sure you're not going to like Episodes 8 & 9. The best thing you could is move on and enjoy the previous SW movies you love.

To the OP, virtually no one who's dissatisfied with the TFA is trolling.

They genuinely didn't like the film.

And writing a thread pleading with them to stop bashing the movie won't change anything.

They've already made up their minds, and the hate for Episode 7 is just getting started.

*yoda voice* "Begun again, the basher gusher wars have..."

The thing that absolutely baffles me, is that there are "Fans" that are bitter about this movie and can't enjoy it through and beyond it's flaws....but yet they're here spewing vitriol about it instead of getting on with their lives.

I believe that EVERYONE has a right to an opinion, but geez, it's like "Let me go to my ex-girlfriends house and explain to her parents or her new boyfriend why I hate her".....it's weird. Folks just won't ever be happy...I guess they should just stop making Star Wars films and turn all of it over to the angry fans and THEY can make the movie that they want...this I've got to see.

I just shake my head every time I come across a post or a thread that reflects something like: : "George Lucas and Disney and Lucasfilm and JJ Abrams and Jar Jar and Boba Fett and my high school guidance counselor shattered my life!!"....but YET they're still here talking about it.

I just don't get it....

But you still have no problem '' ruin the fun '' for people who like PT.
Learn from your own advice. Show with your own example.

For all the fans of this movie don't despair as I always gauge the films popularity through my friends/family/co-workers and not the internet.

I did it with the PT as I have yet to find a real life person who liked them. TFA is a different story as everyone I know loved the movie ranging from my teenage nephews to 40-something friends like me. Only 1 person I know hated it and he was an EU guy and I think he's still bitter they vanquished the EU.

The internet always brings out the loudest, judge the love or hate with the people you know. So far among my inner circle, they love it.

I saw it a third time and I still didn't like the movie but I think Episode 8 and 9 will be much better films with Episode 7 being the weak one out of the trillogy.

I was so dumbfounded by a bunch of people who said that since 7 was a rehash of 4 (Even though there is still lots of aspects these people ignore) that 8 and 9 will just be remakes of Empire and Return.. Like really? You know how this whole trilogy is going to play out already...? *slow clap*

Typically I would agree that someone is wasting their time bashing a film they didn't like.
But Star Wars is a different animal, and bad Star Wars movies, for whatever reason, must be bashed.
It's just something that has to be done, I don't even fully understand it.

You know, your argument is kind of odd. You defend a point saying that fans shouldn't ruin others way of thinking yet you quickly talk about the prequels saying they ruined it for others. What about the fans who loved the prequels? Are you showing the same respect for them that you are asking fans to give TFA? Don't say TFA was bad but you can say that the prequels sucked? Everyone has the right to their opinion and even if we don't like it we all have to respect what others say even if we don't agree with it. I grew up with the OT yet I loved the PT just as much. To me TFA was the worst SW movie ever and Disney and JJ totally ruined it big time. The movie was not similar to ANH, the movie was a bad copy/paste of it to a point that everything we saw had been seen before and they also stepped all over what we had learned of the Force in previous movies. That the concept for Midichlorians from the prequels sucked? Yes it did! Big time! Yet that in no way compares to the blatant disregard of the Force that they did with Rey's character in this movie! That CGI in the prequels was considered bad by many fans? Yes it was but did you see how cheap and fake Ackbar and Niem Numb looked compared to how they did in ROTJ? What could you apreciate from Jakku and Maz Kanata's castle? I saw the movie 2 times in a row and still there was hardly nothing that could be glimpsed really good like the cantina from ANH or even the Pod Racer scene from TPM because JJs camera work is horrible. JJ even managed to ruin what could have been an awesome villain as he had no regards or control with Kylo Ren as a character. One moment you see an awesome dude that seems way more powerful than even Palpatine and the next moment he's being owned by a girl how just hours before had discovered that the Force existed. You got ANH where Ben tells Luke about mind control and explains the Force to him and what does Luke do? He manages to block 3 shots from a remote and then manages to make the shot at the Death Star and this being with Ben's guidance and us knowing that he had the skills but what happens with Rey? She knows nothing about the Force yet she totally controls a Stormtrooper, pulls out emotions from a trained Dark Jedi, beats said Jedi in a force pull battle and then owns him in combat. If that is not enough we have blatant disregards for lightspeed use, have a few bombs destroy A WHOLE PLANET and we even saw a laser beam that was so awesome that once it is reaching it's destination, it can separate on it's own to hit multiple targets! What? Do lasers now come with remote controls? There was bad acting, tons of things stuck in the movie just for fan service and nostalgia, they gave a legendary character a death worst than Boba Fett's and they finally stuck it to the fans by creating an incredible hype regarding Luke just to have him appear at the final minutes of the film looking all constipated and not even saying a word. As one fan said before, TFA totally made a mockery of our childhood heros as it made them failures in everything. The rebelion failed in bringing an era of peace to the galaxy, Luke failed to bring forth the return of the Jedi, Leia failed to become a Jedi and both she and Han failed in both their marrige and in raising their kid. Han even failed to keep the Falcon for crying out loud! That people desperatly want to like this movie is fine by me but this movie has so many fails that even prequel haters are starting to see the light. Some fans are even comparing Finn to Jar Jar Binks! If this is not a way to let us know that TFA was not a good SW movie then I really don't know what is.

I also tried to kid myself my friend but even after watching it a second time right after the first, both my wife and I came out of the movies feeling empty and sad. Just like me, my wife loves SW ever since she was a kid and she loves the prequels as well, yet I had never imagined hearing my wife saying that a SW movie sucked and that she doesn't want to go see it again. :(

When the release was drawing nearer and nearer people were saying to me 'What if the film is rubbish? What if its boring?'

My answer was that it could be a Gonk Droid sat with Bib Fortuna talking about the state of the galaxy for 2 and a half hours and I would still love it, becuase....ITS STAR WARS.

Of course everyone is entitled to their own opinion and not everyone is going to love it, maybe not even like it, but its still part of the reason we all come on this website.

I really would have prefered to see Bib Fortuna talking with a Gonk Droid about the state of the galaxy than having seen JJ ruin SW. At least Fortuna would tell the Gonk all sorts of neat things that wouldn't have ruined the saga. Heck I would have glady sat down for two hours and watched Sarco Plank put us up to date and talk about what is now considered canon and what is not and I would have left the theatre happier.

A fine post, it's fine not to like the movie. The problem here is that the haters, at least a fair few of them, are Lucas Loyalists (He deserves better of course) who were determined that it was going to be a bad movie and want so badly to be vindicated they are seeing it that way. I wanted the prequels to be good. I saw TPM three times, hoping, hoping I could see something salvageable, but I couldn't. TFA, while it might not be for everyone, is a good movie with good direction, good visual effects, a good script, good acting and good cinematography, and it is Star Wars. Be at peace with your dislike of the movie, but don't be trying to claim that it's a bad movie while defending some of the worst movies ever made (It's okay to like bad movies, but embrace their flaws). That's just bitterness and it shows that you are either so deluded and single minded that you will block out the obvious flaws in your position, or you know nothing about the art of movie making. Either way, you're embarrassing yourself. TFA is a roaring success, a box office hit, beloved by the majority of the fans and acclaimed by critics. Just get over it and don't be such a Kylo.

Of course it's a box office hit its star wars. The only star wars that was a disappointment at the box office was Attack of the clones and that's because it was overshadowed by spider man and even that movie still made a blast ton of money.
