This thread is for Hobbit lovers, Elf-friends, and anyone who enjoys watching the 6 movies about Middle Earth.

In don't think so. I remember the Silmarillion to be like the Holy Bible: a lot of mostly unrelated stories on different time frames.
It could work as a TV series, though

Oh was it? I thought it was like adventures prior to the Hobbit.

Well, I did read it a long ago, maybe I'm remembering wrong, but I do remember thinking that the first stories were like the Genesis: Mythological tales from the creation of the Middle Earth and long genealogies.

I recommend it, It also tells us the origins of the elves, dwarves, man, and orcs. It has some interesting stories within it, but it is a long book.

It could probably be a long movie series

Funny enough I just purchased it the about two days ago and started reading it. I have never read the LOTR books so I got Silmarillion and Fellowship and plan to read them both on my winter break coming up.

Thorin looks like a total boss in that armor! Also had no idea Elrond was going to be in this one.

Ah! Somethings I have vast knowledge of! Silmarillion would make a fine television series on BBC or perhaps Netflix.

The Silmarillion is my favorite book, It changed my perspective on many things in life. The hardest thing about reading it is the pronunciation of names. I read it once a year and also own it on audio book cd's to listen while driving. I would love to see the Silmarillion made into movies but I don't think they can do it in less than six films because of the content and because of it being written as a narrative.

Just found out Elrond is a half elf. Mind blown! What other fun facts does the Silmarillion have for me.

Elrond had a twin brother, Elros, who was the first king of Numenor, whom Aragon is a descendant.

Elrond chose to live as the race of Elves while Elros chose to live as the race of Men. Elves are immortal while Men were given the gift of death. Aragorn is a descendant of Elros over thousands of years, although their life was extended to hundreds of years old. Numenor was an island, like Atlantis west of Middle-Earth but east of Valinor, where the Ainur, angelic beings reside. This is where the elves, Gandalf, Bilbo, and Frodo journey at the end of The Lord of the Rings.

Although The Fellowship of the Rings was my favorite film. It's hard to pick one scene. The anticipation of the battle of Helm's Deep was one of them but I chose this one because of it's symbolism.

Without a doubt mine is When Aragorn says "For Frodo" and leads the charge on the Black Gate. Such an awesome moment.
