Too many threads

Agreed. It's becoming hard to travel thru the Forums, perhaps antecipating the spring clean up?

 

Yep, too many BS threads.

 

I was thinking yesterday that it would be nice to have all threads that you created on your profile page in a folder or something (i honestly don't know how many i created) so that could be a solution, move all threads to the ones that have created them, then the staff can create 1 or 2 threads for each category (so you actually can see them all on one page) & then have another "folder there also where you could look through all previous created threads created in that category,
THAT would really be a fun way to get to know new people by visiting their profile pages . With that said: I am not a programmer & have no idea if that would be technically doable. With the community growing it will probably be necessary to sooner or later have main threads created by the staff & that all other is displayed on your profile page.... Right now most of the focus is on the threads, so it would be fun if the profile pages had more options & you had a reason for visiting them .

 

i had a feeling that it might be a function for that. but my thought was to have them displayed on your profile page so if you stumble across someones profile page you can see a list of their threads on the "wall"

 

Maybe the older threads should be locked, as in the ones that are super old and filed away, maybe even have a new system of things where people who make threads should have their threads pending until a mod/staff members activates them just to further filter the content, maybe even the ones with the most dislikes/trolls/etc. should be shut cown .

Well, this was a bit of what I was trying to address in my "ignore thread suggestion"...

That way each user could reduce the size of their own "New Posts" section... So even if some rubbish threads are created, you could open them once, access, and mark to ignore further posts on that thread, if that is the case...

 

I like this idea.

 

I don't mind about having many threads to go through - if they are different, that is. If I'm not interested of the topic, I skip it.

But what I am at the moment struggling with is that people keep on posting similar stuff as if they never read/check if it was already posted before. I hope this 30 post rule will help, but I suspect that it won't teach many to review whether a similar thread has already been posted. I don't know, maybe sending an automated message to the registered email, that summarises the form rules, could help? Just to enforce/ensure that new members know at least some of the forum etiquette?

Edit. I mean sending this message when a new member registers....

 

Thanks - is there a mods list that is available? I know that online staff members are visible on the main cantina page, but I am unsure if it also tells who are the other online mods (namely, the 1030th members).

 

The other thing to consider is that it is ALWAYS a value judgment about what should be merged and what shouldn't be, and what one person considers 'similar' may not agree with what another person thinks is 'similar.' I think we choose to err on allowing separate, unique conversations as much as possible just so we can preserve the individual slants that the OPs bring to their threads. But it can get confusing.

I wholeheartedly support what @Stormagadon said. If you're concerned/annoyed by a thread just let one of us know.
