Totally agree @KeithF1138 . No one is forcing anyone to watch anything. No one is forcing anyone to like anything. However, disparaging others or threatening others who like something that you do not is wrong. Period.

I think, like Anakin with Padme btw , we tend to mistake the feeling of real "selfless" love for someone/something with the more egoistic "version" of "love" that includes possesive elements.

We can decide to enjoy it or not, but nobody of us posseses SW

 

To be fair, the way he and the Collider crew court these type of super-fanboys by feeding the hype flames for payouts and fostering a mentality that certain brands can do no wrong, what the hell were all these people expecting was going to happen once they showed a shred of honesty? You could see back when he was on Collider that their opinions are all very controlled to help promote certain studios, brands and celebrities, but a lot of their fanbase eats that up because they're too naive to see how these shows work. Collider and co. like Campea (even though he doesn't work there anymore) realized that they get more views and more subscribers and more promotions if they fuel the hype train, so for the sake of making more money this is what they decided to make their bread and butter, and it's created a really toxic mentality for a lot of people who have built their identity and sense of worth on corporate entertainment franchises. I really do feel bad for the guy, but at the same time, I hope it was worth all the money he made getting to that point.

And you just gave confirmation of my experience. In order to play in Disney Star Wars playground, I must disown my friends (the books that came before), and like (maybe not like, but certain live with) the new books (which in all honesty is mostly catered to 12 and under audience).

Disney labeled the original EU "legends" and specifically said "there's always some truth in legends" (basically as the catchphrase).
gradually they've been reintroducing concepts and characters from legends into the new EU.
yes, not everything is going to make it, but they didn't label anything as "fake" (as @cawatrooper said: that's just a given). : D

 

I was actually discussing this with some friends last week- it seems like Disney is gradually re-canonizing a ton of stuff from Legends lately.

Like, more than one might suspect. Obviously there's Thrawn and stuff, but they've even re-canonized Bea Arthur's character in the Christmas Special, and arguably the Wisties from Caravan of Courage.

I think it was easier to just wipe the slate clean originally than selectively look at each piece of information and say "okay, this belongs, but this doesn't".

I'd imagine the most important thing was to free up the space after Return of the Jedi, as well as allow for other new stories to be told.

But, as has constantly been told here, if you kindly check your bookcase, your EU books are still safely there. Thanos hasn't whisked them away yet.
