It appears Luke leaves Rey oAhch-To to join the fight against the first order. She can be looking at Luke flying off, maybe he tricks her and she seeing him fly off, or leaves when she sleeping or on a task. Why he leaves her behind maybe to save her from being turn to the darkside and being destroyed and know it is not her fight but his. Rey being eager to save her friends and Luke Skywalker knows she is not ready to Face Snoke and Kylo Ren.

Where is this speculation coming from it is from Luke's X wing on Ahch-To underwater .

I believe Rey will prove her self, by raising Luke's x wing out the water and go and help her friends in distress. Question needs to be ask why in these promotions its showing Luke's X wing underwater. What part of this is important to the plot of the movie. Why in the shots with Chewi and Porg in the Falcon it appears there a reason why they do not show you who is piloting the Falcon, because it is not Rey it is Luke.

There is a reason why they are not showing you who is flying the Falcon, but it is Luke Skywalker, and a clear sign he has one of his friends Porg in the middle flying with Luke who are attach to Luke.

I am assuming Rey is left behind because Luke see her powers she has no control over them, and fears she can be used against the good. So leaving her behind is to save her, because she is not ready to take on Snoke & Kylo Ren.

As we see in this scene why Luke Skywalker left Rey behind :

Hmm. It could also be the opposite, and that she goes off (with Kylo?) to face Snoke and Luke follows to help.

Either way, I do agree that the Chewie/Porg cockpit shot in the trailer was suspicious.

So it's sort of like ESB where Luke went to Bespin anyways when he was warned, so that's why he tricks Rey into staying behind but she finds a way off the island with the x-wing barely flyable, but she makes it at sub-hypersapce speeds and gets caught in Snoke's trap, but unlike Luke escaping, she is captured and Luke can't save her.

I think this is an interesting theory. Granted, we'll have to suspend our disbelief some that Luke can pilot the Millenium Falcon simply because he could pilot an X-Wing (but if Poe could fly a TIE just because he flew an X-wing at least there's precedent).

Here's a question I have? What type of lend-lease program was the rebellion running that Luke is still hoping around the galaxy in his old X-Wing? Isn't that Republic property? If it is his (or someone else's) X-Wing under water, it almost feels like a given that she'll be required to raise it from the water.

It'll be interesting to see what finally causes one or both of them to leave Ach-To. And why is Chewie just chilling on the island? Like what does he have to do with himself while Rey is training?

It can also be in the shot of Chewi and the porg Rey leaving Ahch-To without Luke Skywalker because he refuse to join because of fear or he doesn’t believe in the Jedi teachings because it failed him and his students. But after Rey leaves he is convinced by a flash back or force ghost to help her, and we see Luke’s power with the force is like Yoda how the audience know on screen seeing Luke raise his X wing out the water like his Master did once long time ago.

    I doubt it.

As for th e OP;Luke leaving Rey behind then how does she get off the island? I'd say Luke kicks her off the island and he stays behind.

There is an issue in the new comics in which Han lets Luke fly the Millennium Falcon (Star War #18).

he's in his chair :) an airliner can be piloted from both positions - who's to say the Falcon isn't the same?

Because Chewbacca has never flown it alone.

Not entirely true -- he flew it alone to pick Rey and Fin on Starkiller base. Admittedly, it was a quick flight, but he did fly it by himself. I would assume that if Rey can do it, so could he.
