I liked TLJ's comedy to a point but JJ's was more classic type and even more subtle.

Like when C3P0 was rambling and they turn around staring at him. Then he turns around thinking they're looking at something behind him.

Or when going through the crowd and Poe says everyone stay down. Chewie and he tries to bend down staying out of sight.

When Kylo mentions about someone is at unease about his appearance. Hux states something like. About your mask? I like it.

There's a lot more but overall it was good classic comedy. Most if not all was funny. Only a few fell flat.

I thought the comedy was perfect, it was used just enough and didn't ruin the flow of serious moments. The stormtrooper mindtrick was very funny, as were some of Chewie and Threepio's moments. This was classic Star Wars humor for me.

    The comedy was perfect.

Especially with C3P0 who had such important participation in the story and as a comedy relief.

The other one that I loved was Babu Frik. His voice and the way he interacts was just so funny.

Yes! This is exactly the amount (and style) of comedy that I would want from Star Wars. I think TFA had that too but TROS really nailed it.

I binged the OT a couple days ago, so it's fresh in my mind, but C3PO seemed very much like the C3PO from Empire. I half expected to hear a "how typical" from him at some point.

C3PO had his best jokes of the saga.

The one with Babby Freek is my oldest friend really made me smile.

I loved it when they were in the sinking substance and all fell. One underground Poe checked in on everyone except 3P0 and 3P0 says something like 'I notuce you didnt say my name sir, but I assure you I am fine'

Yeah the comedy was completely on point to my liking. And there was the perfect ratio of comedy to emotion to me. Most everything in this film seemed to have a perfect ratio to me. A moment of comedy that stands out to me is when Poe, Finn and Chewie are captured and about to be shot, Hux shoots the troopers "I'm the spy!" "What?!" "You?!" "I knew it!" "No you did not!" it's the look on Poe's face when he says "I knew it!" it's like the actors are playing the roles from both perspectives of characters and fans, and Poe's expression is exactly the expression of a fan who is b.s.ing and he knows it.

Yeah and again with the facial expressions adding to the humor, when the woman says "I like it." Hux's expression is gold, it's this irritated distaste.

You know,I noticed this on my second viewing today. The humor was actually pretty much spot-on Star Wars. I don't reember many clunkers at all, actually. And god love 'em for giving Threepio a slew of excellent lines this time! Stavross, I agree - this DID feel more like ESB Threepio than anything that I think we've seen from him since 1980.

    You were a spice runner?
    You were a stormtrooper?
    Were you a spice runner?
Were you a scavenger? We can do this all night.

There's also a scene and I forget the exact word but C-3PO (after the memory wipe) says something like "Goodness, my first laser battle!"

After seeing it the second time today there was a funny scene with Snap, Rose and Leia. I can't remember all they said though. But was pretty funny.

I think is the scene where Rose complains about Snap being so negative.

The humor in TROS was spot on. It was just the right amount.
