TLJ has me checked out of SW mostly until after the ST is over. I haven't been on here much recently mostly because of this. I'm just not interested. The teaser was interesting, but overall Lando and nostalgia is pretty much all that spoke to me, and it isn't enough. Maybe the marketing changes this, but for now I'm onto other things until SW woos me back. I'll always love the OT and enjoy aspect of the PT.

TROS will save the sequel trilogy much like ROTS saved the prequel trilogy. I was there when all the hate took place during the gusher and basher prequel wars. History repeats itself... or else, Star Wars is done... and we all know that's not gonna happen.

This is probably going to sound like a nitpick, but it bothers me to no end when the SW fandom overexaggerates the degree to which TLJ negatively impacted said fandom.

    Ok, tangent over.

I'm really excited for TROS because of the fact that we know it is going to bring the entire "Skywalker Saga" to a close and herald the return and final defeat of Palpatine.

I really want another trailer and for tickets to go on sale so I can plan another "watch party" with some family friends of mine who love the franchise as much as, if not more than, I do.

I'm always excited for new Star Wars! I really want to see if JJ can pull of an emotionally satisfying conclusion for the OT cast.

That being said, I'm finding myself also very interested in what happens to other characters outside of the films. I wish we would get some closure with SW Rebels. What happened to Ezra, Sabine and Ahsoka? Was Jason Syndulla one of Luke's students that Kylo killed? The last episode of Rebels is some of my favorite SW to date.

The Mandalorian has me super excited too. Ultimately I'm wishing for more Animated or Live Action serial adventures that can take more time to focus on the characters and the state of the galaxy.

Right now all the hype is still around Endgame. Soon it will move to The Lion King. But rest assured, The Mandalorian and Disney+ are coming and bringing a lot with them. I think Disney+ will be a bigger game changer than most realize. The hype for The Rise of Skywaker will pick up considerably leading up to the Disney+ launch and continuing through the holidays.

I can see them marketing this heavily as the end of the entire Skywalker saga, a special event not to be missed, and I think it will work tremendously. I'm not saying it will do Endgame box office numbers worldwide, but it should do very well, especially domestically, maybe even close to The Force Awakens domestic numbers.

If just the teaser got me hyped, imagine what a full trailer and marketing campaign designed to tug on your nostalgic heartstrings going all the way back to 1977 could do?

Let's face it, I was already guaranteed to be there the day it was announced, but I think the optimistic love of Star Wars combined with the holiday season will pull anyone on the fence into the theaters and the curiosity will bring even the haters in. Positive reviews will bring the rest.

The Force is strong with JJ.

The one thing I learned about the ‘Saga’ is it’s never over. Lucas said he was done in 1983, and than said the story was over in 2005 (He laughed at Leslie Stahl when she asked him about the Sequel Trilogy), and now Disney is saying the Skywalker Saga is over in 2019. It wouldn’t suprise me if we see an Episode X, XI and XII someday. Lol

Star Wars will never be over, but it’s supposed to be the end of the Skywalker part of the story.

The Episodic (Skywalker) Saga is ending, but the franchise itself isn't.

    Believing otherwise just isn't realistic.

If the first non-Skywalker film doesn’t do well at the box office, you can bet we will see more Skywalker adventures.

As Star Wars fan, reading all the BTS books, Lucas always said there would be 12 films of the Skywalker saga, so when he ended it with 6 I was sad... but I knew that there would be more... maybe after his death, but I also knew Lucas was too smart for that, to let someone mess with his films after he passed, so I wasn't surprised when he sold it to Disney.

Lucas is a savvy business man; Disney took comic book characters that most people saw as stupid, and elevated Marvel comics' characters to icons with 2012's Avengers, not surprised that Lucas trusted Disney with his IP, so now Star Wars will live on forever... there might be bumps in the road like a 3 year hiatus, but the saga will continue well after I'm gone... MTFBWU...always.

There is no death... there is the FORCE.

I don't agree because we've already crossed that bridge.

The time we’re in right now is just my favorite and I don’t take it for granted. Even though I didn’t like the prequels as much, joining in on the hype leading up to each one are some of my fondest memories.

Life is short. I’ve found that often good times are what you make for yourself. So I’m going to dive into the pool of Star Wars hype and swim around like a big fat manatee.

I’m going to attend Force Friday at midnight and buy some sort of collectible. I’m going to get tickets for opening night and show up in some sort of amateur cosplay. I’m going to get that LEGO game and play it until my thumbs are as sore as Beckett’s. I’m getting into Galaxy’s Edge somehow and building a lightsaber and drinking milk.

Could The Rise of Skywalker disappoint me the way the prequels did? Maybe. I’ll allow that possibility. But I still had a fun time during the prequels and I’m sure to have a blast this December too.

    YMMV

May the Force be with you!

Not really. Solo was a prequel released at the wrong time with a recasting of a legend in Harrison Ford. It just wasn't interesting for the average movie goer. If we go 3 years after TROS and we have new Original SW films about Jedi and they don't do well, the Skywalkers will get more stories. That's why I believe Ben Solo survives the end of TROS. So the bloodline isn't completely dead and there's wiggle room.

Interesting fact. Originally it was planned that the Solo movie would be the first Disney Star Wars. Would this have changed the success?

There’s a reason they scrapped that idea. It would have been a lackluster way to begin and too risky considering the potential to flop. So my comments stand. No matter how good a film, it was still not interesting to the general public.

I am really excited how JJ & Co will end this trilogy & saga.
Will it be bittersweet ? A Happy ending like RotJ ? Or will the dark side win like in RotS ?
I also wanna see how RoS continues the (imo) odd choices TLJ made.

I dont expect a crowd pleaser like TFA, thats for sure.

I would wager a lot of credits that it will not end with the dark side winning

This is completely beside the point.

You are arguing that failure of "non-Skywalker Saga" SW properties is going to result in an automatic continuation of the Skywalker Saga films, but we crossed that bridge with Solo because if Lucasfilm felt like the future of the SW brand were dependent on the perpetuation of the "Skywalker Saga" in the said of that film underperforming, The Rise of Skywalker would not have been announced as being the conclusion and finale of said Saga.
