It’s a crap film that really does no service to the cinematic wonders of the first two films.

Watch ESB before you watch this and then just try and see how the two are related.

it is a marvel era abortion of a film.

There's going to be plenty of time to debate the film itself. This isn't the thread to discuss that. This is the RT thread. Let's try to keep this on topic since many of us haven't seen it yet.

Because I still like Star Wars despite the bungling. Just watched Roz Weston's review which gives me hope.

Well for all those worried about the RT score for TROS. It could be worse. It could have the RT score for Cats:eek:

Same as Lion King on RT. Bodes well for the Audience poll numbers that will come out in a couple of days.

Yeah, although oddly enough I agreed with the critics on that. Thus I avoided the live action version. I just can't stand the idea of all that. I loved the original. But if others enjoy it, more power to 'em. ;)

Nah it’s all the old, sad, white males hating the film because of all the women, POC and nod to the LGBTQ community that is responsible for the low score......oh it’s a high audience score......crap.... back to the drawing board on how this is a bad thing for old, sad, white, males. They will have to redo the template and play the old stats game a few different times to find a way to make it look bad for the evil, white patriarchy.

Looks like I was pretty close on the audience score prediction as it is setting at 87 with 5000 audience scores of which I am assuming is slightly protected from the supposed brigading.

Most critics (in fact, the entire media) are far left of the political spectrum. The fact that this movie is getting bad reviews means I'm probably going to love it. The media fawned over the Leftist politics of The Last Jedi, and from what I've read so far, most of these critics are upset that JJ is undoing the damage that Rian did to the franchise.

Does anyone really listen to critics anymore? Most of them are paid and bribed into giving good reviews. I've found the more critically acclaimed films tend to be my least favorite. So yeah, the bad rotten tomatoes scores are a positive in my book!

    Seems I was wrong.

Critics does not like it too much, but the audience does. Exact opposite of TLJ.

Could this mean it will open low, but have great legs as Word of Mouth soreads? Again opposite of TLJ?

CLICKBAIT YOUTUBERS IN MELTDOWN!!! Now where will they copy their opinions from? The Critics? After how all these people used TLJ Critic score to basically clickbait their incomes for 2 years, this is the best rebuttal we could've seen.

In my opinion, a genuine critic doesn’t try to guess if you will like a movie or not, they simply evaluate the artistic merits of a film. Most often those attributes do translate into a majority liking or disliking something, but plenty of times it doesn’t.

If 'A New Hope' came out today in the same format, critics would hate it.

I totally agree with that. ANH would be savaged by today’s standard. And that is even taking into account upgrading SFX and making some demographic shifts in the cast to appease everyone. It would still get panned.

LMAO That was good. But sadly, probably true AF. The thing with JJ, he knows how to make a rollercoaster ride of a film. There may not be much "there" there, but it's fun in the moment.

The thing with critics is, they aren't "fans" of the property (or of any property for that matter). So while they might understand the artistic merits of any given film (or not, I'm not sure half of these folks ever even took a film analysis class, but I digress), that doesn't make them experts on the merits of a film that is part of a long running franchise.

Case in point: I've argued for almost 2 years that the previous entry in the saga pissed off fans but the critics loved it because of some of the very decisions which fans hated. They often use terms like "fan service" to condemn something without giving nuance. To them there is no difference between a nice reference to what has gone before (such as in a recent episode of The Mandalorian when we see him fly by the cliff where Luke and Obi-Wan looked down onto Mos-Eisley) and something which gets annoying if it is done too often (which was what happened with the dice in VIII and Solo, but that's just my opinion). To them any of that is ALL BAD. FAN SERVICE BAD!

Excuse me but without us, the fans, there is no Star Wars. So screw the critics. If you like a film, then like it. Don't explain yourself to me. If you dislike episode IX, that's your prerogative. If you dislike it as much as I dislike VIII, and you expunge it from your "fanon" then go for it. Again, you owe me no explanation or apology. You do you. And I'm not directing this at you Rodney. I just woke up on the wrong side of the bed apparently and needed to rant. ;)

Except JJ isn't undoing any damage cause there wasn't any damage. Only what some didn't like of the movie.

Also I like TLJ and I'm not a leftist. People can like one or all of the ST.
