The Star Wars Show revealed a clip from Rey's third lesson, a deleted scene from The Last Jedi which will be incorporated into the novelization of the film by author Jason Fry. The show delves into the creative process behind the novelization, showing the collaboration between writer/director Rian Johnson and Jason Fry.

Go to the 3:00 mark where the segment begins. They discuss incorporating deleted scenes from the film into the novelization, including a brief eight second clip from the 'third lesson' Luke had for Rey on Ahch-To. Check it out:

Also it was revealed that Han Solo's funeral will be mentioned in the movie's novelization by Jason Fry that will be released on March 6. That is something that we've discussed with you in the past...

Not only does this make me look forward to Fry's novelization, but also the completely produced deleted scenes that will appear on the home video release!

That scene looks amazing. But then again, the rest of the movie is about the same third lesson, so in a sense, the scene is redundant.

I'm kind of skeptical when it comes to this book. Granted, it can develop stuff that could use some explaining, but I don't want it to overspecify things or alter the way I interpreted certain elements of the film, because there's a lot of interestingly ambiguous subtlety in it. You know, with all due respect, I'm not interested in Jason Fry's take on TLJ. Yeah, they're showing Rian in the promo, but that's just good marketing. ;)

imagine if we get a "luke pov" when he dies and in it he describes visions of revan, and the prime jedi, and feels something dark nehind him as the prime jedi symbol shakes and glows...leaving us wondering what the hell we just read

    how would you react?

Well, I think I’m right in saying that we all expected the novelisation’s delay to be down to Lucasfilm not wanting to deviate too much from what was shown on-screen, like they did with the official novelisation for The Force Awakens as a result of it releasing only a few weeks after the film.

So much for that. I think it’s fair to say now that Rian is the king of the curveball.

Also, on another, purely speculative note: I think this squashes questions I’ve seen popping up all over the place about whether or not Lucasfilm would go ahead with Rian’s trilogy. They’ve had plenty of time to react to our reactions to The Last Jedi, and ties to Rian and his vision could have easily been cut by cutting out these extra scenes promised in the novelisation, and editing the novelisation to line up with the film to a ‘T’.

Kudos to Rian for this. Hardcore Star Wars fans now get the tiny canonical morsels of information that we’ve been craving to have exclusive to a novel - to us, the Star Wars-crazy - and Rian gets to put his idea, in full, out there to the world.

It’s the only win-win I think we could have got with this novelisation. And I can’t wait.

Well, there's one of the big questions I had coming out from TLJ solved! No sarcasm, I'm really happy we'll get to see that scene.

That shot of Rey with the lightsaber running towards the village is beautiful. I can't wait for the novelization in March!

Sorry, I have to say it:

I was right. That is the scene MSW believed to be the KOR vs Luke and Rey.
    There wasn't any ruse.
It's that they took totally wrong the pictures/videos.

    As I said months ago.

That said, I think it's a pity is not in the movie :( Looks very interesting.

Pah, I can beat that. I want a Blu-Ray where I can pick which scenes I want and which ones I don't, including the deleted scenes, and to play them in the order I want, so I can build my own movie experience. And I'd like the case in Cornflower Blue. And while I'm at it, the lottery numbers for this weekend wouldn't be bad either.

Joking aside, I know there's very little chance of it (and especially because I suspect most of the discs have already been pressed / are in the process of being pressed) but an option to watch the film with deleted scenes included would have been really good, especially if it's more of the Rey/Luke training (which I wanted to see more of).

And I agree, Lealt, this looks like it would have fit really well into the movie too but given it's length I suppose something else would have to have been dropped.

Let's just hope the author has learned some restraint from the previous novelization. DON'T TELL US EVERYTHING!

I saw some where say no only was this scene cut from the film for time, but also the intention behind the scene would paint certain characters in different lights and might be a bit much...i mean look at the fandom now on polar opposite sides after the version we saw in cinemas. I wont give a synopsis on here just in case people don't want to know...

Agree. In cases like this, the book sometimes give to us too much explanations. Some questions and some scenes are better if you leave to the audience decide.
Exemple: The book of 2001: A Space Odyssey gives us to many details. The movie its much more abstract and leaves questions for multiples awnsers, a masterpiece by the way.

But I am a little curious about Han's funeral. I cannot dennie that.

I’m sure the “you didn’t like TLJ? You need to see it again, then you’ll understand “ crowd loves this.

Not me, that story isn’t getting another dollar out of my pocket or minute of my time. If you want me to like your movie, make a better movie. Don’t ask me to do more to satisfy you, that’s on you.

“Oh, what you don’t understand is...”, nope. Don’t care anymore, you had your chance.
