Clearly the lock IS the party. A party that never ends...

 

That wrap party was so absurdly extravagant. Apparently the DJs were the Daft Punk guys, there was also Jamie Oliver and the largest sweet potato in the UK (for more curiosities go to sleemo's blog.) This party was like something from Baz Luhrmann's film but for real.

Can we all take a minute to give JJ some love and affection. There is something about JJ running star wars that leaks spoilers like a sieve. I, for one, bless this man every day for the spoilers he is letting leak out.

this will bite me in the ass when the title drops tomorrow but 1st March is next friday and then once you're into march, why bother when celebration is right around the corner?

If we get to 1st March with not even a hint of a title coming out, best bet is to just assume EVERYTHING episode IX will be at celebration.

 

Why bother? They have EpIX merch to sell at Celebration!

 

KK clearly knows what it is, but they are going to push it all the way to Celebration now to make the HUGE unveil for the title.

 

Film Crit Hulk said some time ago that the deal with a movie title is you either have it immediately or you analyse every option in excruciating detail and in the end you have to pick the option that is the least worst. There is a chance this might be the case with IX's title.

 

Given how things always leak, and there's gonna be a LOT of other stuff at Celebration (The Mandalorian, Cassian Andor, potentially Obi-Wan, and the new TV show SWNN just announced was in production; Resistance Season 2, TCW Season 7, and potentially a third show; B&W movie series, maybe RJ's stuff, and still EPIX; not to mention the 20th anniversary panel, books, and overall Celebration stuff), wouldn't it be smarter to announce the title ahead of time? Maybe to build up hype towards Celebration? Because with everything going on in the event itself, I have a feeling that there'll be a lot of title drops - and I don't want this one to be lost at worst or overpower the others at best.

 

It is still possible that we still get a title before Celebration. All the other titles have been dropped unceremoniously so there is a chance we get one between now and Celebration. Unless this time they want to do it differently. The only reason they might decide to hold it is that principal photography wrapped a lot closer to Celebration than any of the others.

 

I've been won over by some of the arguments on Resistance Broadcast about why the titls will come before Celebration.

I mean, will they have an "Episode IX" panel and just trust nobody on stage to accidentally drop the title before the trailer drops?

Will they have boxes of title-branded IX shirts in the back and just trust nobody to peek?

Not to mention publishing panels that will be announcing "journey to" books.

I could be wrong, but it feels like it would be an enormous effort to keep the title under wraps until the IX panel.

 

I agree. It would be simpler and easier to release it beforehand and doing so makes a lot of sense. However if there was ever going to be a time to wait until Celebration this would likely be the time.

 

Are you kidding? It's Episode IX! Of course it'll overpower EVERYTHING at this con. Pretty much why most people go to Celebration now is to be with the fans and to get the first glimpse at the next big film. This year there is so much content coming out. Stuff is bound to be overshadowed, but it doesn't make it any less relevant. Star Wars fans aren't stupid. We read the headlines and we know exactly what's coming and when to line up in advance to get our copies, pre-order comics, books, and toys, or be ready to sit down and see this content firsthand. We celebrate it all as one big thing regardless.

Luckily we are so nuts about Star Wars that most things never get past us. It is always nice to find new stuff now and again though.

 

This would be a nightmare? Has anyone ever been to a Celebration and went to the store? I really think this is a big reason whey we have 5 days this Celebration. Thursday appears to be mostly panel free. It is your shopping day, still with that it is a nightmare because not everyone will go on Thursday. It is hours of standing in line to get into store and then sometimes hours to check out. The "Title" shirts must be available early or the experience will be even worse. For TFA you could only get the shirt at the Celebration store and we never got one. For TLJ you got to order it online and not wait in ungodly lines. They need to work with ReedPop (yesterday ordering the TPM 20th anniversary pin and t-shirt was painful) and make sure to allow us to order the official Celebration and EP9 shirts well in advance.
